Celebrating My Mother and Father's Wedding Anniversary. 79 years ago Elizabeth Ann O'Donnell (Betty) married Charles Hibberd Bassett (Chuck) on April 18, 1942 in a Catholic Church in Ithaca, New York. My Mom was a 'good' Irish Catholic and and my Dad Episcopalian who later in life was more committed to the New York Times Sunday Paper and living his faith daily through work, family and relations. They were small town people raised through the Great Depression and married at t...he start of World War II. They were married for 52 years in the Syracuse, New York area where I was raised. I won the lottery in having 2 wonderful parents who did their best to steer me in the right direction. All the wrong turns I've taken in my life are my own doing...the right turns are due to their love and support. The Charles H. Bassett Youth Foundation, Inc. is a legacy of good will and good works in their honor and their ancestors' contributions. Always remembered..always loved..always paid forward, especially to the less fortunate. See more
