This is a special post to address COVID-19 as many people are practicing social distancing to keep themselves safe. We want to be available to you online to discuss how can we best serve homeowners during this time. For many homeowners concerned with the new coronavirus pandemic, indoor air quality is becoming a popular topic regarding our health. The condition of the air in our homes can affect how viruses and other air pollutants can survive. This largely has to do with hu...midity control and having a quality ventilation strategy. We can guide you on what we can do to help and what you as the homeowner can do to improve your quality of indoor air and make a less hospitable environment for viruses. We can help via email, chat and video conferencing. All your questions are welcomed, Gaia Sharbel

We just learned about Barbara Lifton’s press conference being held tomorrow at 10am in the LCA Press Room, (130) Legislative Office Building Albany NY. We are mobilizing a small flashmob of support, and if you are within driving distance, it would be great if you were able to attend. Barbara has generated significant momentum around a demand that the Governor carve out - in the 2020-21 budget - at least $2 billion from the Clean Energy Fund (CEF), or any other appropriat...e funding source, to launch a statewide, all-buildings, energy efficiency initiative (as we await our state climate action plan by the end of 2022). She will be presenting a letter to the Governor, and we will be meeting Walter Hang at 9:45am outside the LCA Press Room, (130) Legislative Office Building in Albany Below is a link to Walter Hang’s coalition letter to which he’s inviting folks across the state to sign on. Just copy /paste the link below in your browser http://www.toxicstargeting.com//coal-letter-to-gov-cuomo-r You can help by showing your support by signing the letter to demonstrate that our communities want clean air and water, and Home Performance with sustainable solutions is the answer.

Home is Our little corner of the world, a sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of our everyday lives. A place to spend time with our friends and family. The scene of our most cherished memories. Home is where the heart is.... This Valentine’s Day, you can do a few small things to show your home some extra love. With much appreciation, your home will return the favor by being even more comfortable and cozy, lowering the amount of energy it uses every month, and reducing your carbon footprint. Treat Your Home to a No-Cost Spa Day A no-cost or low-cost home energy audit can uncover hidden problems that you may not recognize, such as leaky air ducts or uninsulated walls. It can also identify potential hazards such as improper ventilation, which may degrade air quality, or areas with high humidity and cold surfaces that might support mold growth. The audit provides you with a top-to-bottom look at where your home is wasting energy. You will learn the root cause of any drafts, inconsistent temperatures, heating and cooling system failures, or other problems you may be experiencing. Best of all, you can treat your home to this little token of appreciation at no-cost to you. Once the audit is complete, you will receive a customized report documenting your home’s energy performance and the actions you can take to make your home more energy efficient. Stock Your Fridge and Freezer with all the Provisions for a Perfect V-Day Keeping your refrigerator and freezer full can help regulate the temperature inside. So go ahead, make those amazing Valentine’s Day desserts, plan a romantic dinner at home, and load up the freezer with your favorite frozen treats. Not ready to stock the fridge or planning a nice dinner out? No problem! When it’s not the right time to fill them up, try putting bags of ice in the freezer, or pitchers of cold water in the fridge. Bonus tip: avoid putting your dinner leftovers directly in the fridge or freezer and let them cool off for a few minutes first. This will help you avoid raising the temperature inside your fridge and keep it from using more electricity to maintain a cold temperature
