TOMORROW, Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at 6 PM 7 PM PDT: "WeHOWL presents "We The Creators" a weekly live streaming series that showcases the artists that are the driving force behind the magic of live events. Every week visionary creative director Nova Han will introduce you to world class artists working at the forefront of their medium. We will dive into their personal stories, learn how they got their start, what inspires them and what challenges they’ve had to overcome in... the name of art. Audience members will have the opportunity to ask the artists questions and participate in a fun DIY experience to get their creative juices flowing! Joining us for our series premier is Aaron Taylor Kuffner, (creator of the Gamelatron) an artist whose pieces often take the form of long term multi year projects that involve in depth research, collaboration with field experts and development of specialized skill sets. Each project is uniquely attached to the idea of providing conceptual tools that further the evolution of consciousness through experiences of beauty and the sublime. In doing so he reaches far outside of conventions pushing the role of art to be a form of service to society. Through his work Kuffner has become a noted composer, a kinetic sculptor, electronic music maverick, a machinist, an installation artist, an ad-hoc engineer, an ambassador of Indonesian musical tradition, a prolific street artist, theater director, poetic terrorist, instrument builder, social activist, earth artist, community radio advocate, surround sound pioneer, and producer of social sculptures and hyperbolic events ranging in scale from intimate finite happenings to the epic and fabled. On the cold & dark evening before the winter solstice, I bring you the Gamelatron ‘Bintang Biru’ (meaning ‘Blue Star’). I mixed holographic flake into a clear coat protective finish on the gongs after they were patinated a blue-black. Wishing you all a joyous hibernal solstice & a merry holiday season ahead.
