Dr. Anthony Randi’s post doctoral residents win first place in the American College of Prosthodontics Annual research competition. Dr. Anthony Randi, Assistant Clinical Professor at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine in the Division of Postgraduate prosthetic dentistry has donated one day per week for over 30 years teaching numerous courses in prosthetic dentistry and overseeing patient care. He is currently course director for the Current Literature Review cur...riculum. Dr. Randi has mentored over 25 MS thesis for his resident’s fulfillment of their Master of Science Degree. Research has covered a broad base of material testing, implant testing and clinical research. Numerous projects have been published in peer reviewed journals. Recently Dr. Randi’s students Dr. Liza Horbar and Dr. Penny Planzos research took first place at the American College of Prosthodontics Annual Symposium in Baltimore. Over 300 research projects were reviewed by members of the specialty. Drs. Planzos and Horbar took first place at the American College of Prosthodontics New York Section and the Northeast Gnathological Society Annual meetings as well. Congratulations to Dr. Penny Planzos and Dr. Liza Horbar for their hard work in exposing potential issues with current implant systems. This was the first time a Columbia University Resident took home first place at the National Meeting. The Cancer Center for Kids is recognizing Drs. Anthony and Ruth Randi for their extraordinary philanthropic efforts and dedication to their mission through the Jay Gallagher Memorial Foundation. Dr. Anthony was involved as a youth coach for 12 years in Garden City coaching both boys and girls youth lacrosse. This experience led to the start of the Jay Gallagher Memorial Lacrosse tournament held on Father’s Day weekend since 1996. As the tournament grew, Drs. Ruth and Anthony Randi created the Jay Gallagher Memorial Foundation. The Foundation has netted over 1.5 million dollars for 2 local charities. Their association with the Cancer Center for Kids started in 2012 raising financial support and recognition for Dr. Weinblatt and the CCFK team.
