Visit the Charming and Charismatic Cotswolds with the Savvy Sightseer! Join Jeanne Schnupp on a virtual tour of the Charming and Charismatic Cotswolds on Sunday afternoon, November 8th at 2PM. Anyone who watches popular British crime dramas like Father Brown and Midsomer Murders will warn you that the Cotswolds in south-central England can be murderous! Fans of Harry Potter, Poldark and James Bond will recognize familiar backdrops of their favorite scenes in the lazy, bucolic... hills and valleys, honey-colored limestone houses, and roaming sheep of the quaint villages in the Cotswolds. Called the "Soul of England", the Cotswolds appeal lies in its unspoiled villages and countryside but each village has a distinctly different personality. Come learn about each of them and see the places that inspired writers J.R.R. Tolkien, Agatha Christie, Jane Austen and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, to name just a few authors who found the Cotswolds illuminating. All are welcome to view this recorded video program on Sunday, November 8th at 2PM on the Library's Facebook page and the website www.gardencitypl.org. The program will be available in the Virtual Library for viewing after its debut. No registration is required. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Library. See more
