Garrison Volunteer Ambulance Corp

It is with great regret that the Garrison Volunteer Ambulance Corps announces the passing this week of both Founding Member Barbara Prescott and Life Member Peter Von Bergen. Barbara ran the phone dispatch for our community before central dispatch was created and was crucial in the over-all operation of the organization. Peter was an active member assisting the Corps as a Driver and Communications. They will be sorely missed. No services have been announced at this time. Please keep them and their families in your thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.

It is with deep regret the Garrison Volunteer Ambulance Corp. is sad to announce the passing of Past Captain Mary Arceo. Wife of Lou Arceo(life member) formerLt. Mary Arceo was the back bone of GVAC and a leader of the can do spirt of GVAC. Always willing to share her countless experiences with her fellow EMT’s. Helping others in there time of need. She was a special kind of person to drop what ever she was doing and help a complete stranger but for Mary the satisfaction was knowing she made a difference and she sure did. She wore many hats at GVAC she was a officer a CPR instructor and first aid instructor and assisted with CFR and EMT training. Mary will be missed. GVAC will advise of arrangements for Mary. Please keep the Arceo family in your thoughts and prayers.

On 12-18-19 @ 6:22 pm Garrison Ambulance and Garrison Fire where Dispatched to a serious auto accident on Route 9, south of Indian Brook Road Involving 6 vehicles. On arrival on the scene chief call for immediate Mutual aid for for extrication and additional ambulance resources. There where 5 ambulances with 6 patients transported to area trauma centers. North highlands fire and Garrison fire did an excellent job with a very tough extrication. Thank you for you for yo...ur all for your amazing dedication!
