Gateway would like to say THANK YOU to all nurses who have not only made it their mission to serve the people we support & serve, but help promote the vaccination effort. We continue to need you now more than ever.
Thank you, Mid Hudson News, for helping to tell Gateway's story. When COVID hit our area in early 2020, our team pulled together and adapted our operations so that we could continue providing essential services to the thousands of people we serve in our community. We've become a stronger, more resilient organization because of it! Story Link: https://midhudsonnews.com//gateway-survives-pandemic-unsc/
We have received a grant to provide emergency meals for low- to middle-income residents of the City of Kingston impacted by COVID-19. If you know someone who needs a healthy meal, please call us at 845-331-1261 ext. 252.
Last September, we participated in a pilot Food Rescue project through a NYS Food and Anti-Hunger initiative under Governor Cuomo. We collaborated with Hudson Valley Agribusiness Development Corporation. Volunteers from other organizations went out into farm fields and gleaned vegetables. They brought the food here to our kitchen and our now Food Services Director, Shannon Hart, was hired to process the food. One hundred pounds of food was donated to Feed HV who distributed it to people in need. They have recently recognized us for our participation and we thank them, but more importantly our community thanks them.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month. It's ok to not be "ok," and you must know that you are not alone. There is a vast community of people to listen and help, starting with Gateway. This month we will offer tools to help with self-care and making connections for resources in the community.
Great news from our neighbors at #Hannaford : #gatewayhudsonvalley has been added to their Giving Tag Program. Visit any Hannaford store, purchase the Community Bag and use the attached Giving Tag to direct a $1 donation to Gateway. Your donation helps our programs that serve so many in the community with housing, finding work, recovery in their life, and so much more. Thank you!
