SAVE THE DATE: Monday, September 21. The annual parent meeting will be held at 6:30 at the bingo hall on the above date. Due to NYS restrictions, we ask that only one member per family attend the meeting. For those of you that are new to the organization, we will bring you up to date on any information we have regarding NECGC and WGI. We will outline a typical year and what, if any changes, will occur this upcoming season. Board members positions that are vacated due to... term limits will be appointed; each family will have one vote. If you are interested in running for the board, but have not indicated your intent, please contact Krystal Smackpfeffer at [email protected] as she is gathering information from all potential applicants. Covid-19 has left many of us with feelings of uncertainty regarding the upcoming Winterguard season. At this time, not knowing how NECGC and WGI will move forward with the upcoming season, I’ve made the difficult decision to cancel auditions. I know some of you have been working on your audition piece. Please continue to do so! Auditions may take place once a decision has been made by NECGC and WGI. We may also decide to have virtual auditions for individual competitions. There are many ideas being considered to keep everyone engaged, involved, and spinning! Plans will be shared when more is known, hopefully in the next few weeks. As always if you know someone that is interested in joining our organization, please have them contact me by email at [email protected].

Sadly it is time to say goodbye to Summer Camp. It was great to see GC members as well as new faces. Our biggest camp day was 30 people, but with instructors was well under the 50 maximum so we didn’t have to turn anyone away. This camp was driven by feedback from participants and it looked like everyone had a great time, despite the heat. This year’s seven camps were full of spinning flag, rifle and sabre and learning new tricks! There were participants that had never p...icked up a weapon and this allowed them the opportunity to play around with it without having the pressure of a show. Oh, but wait, there were shows, at the end of each camp; everyone got a chance to showcase what they worked on that day to the rest of the campers. Now it’s time to relax but always keep challenging yourself to accomplish great things, because Only those who dare to fail greatly can every achieve greatly. Robert Kennedy. Thank you to everyone that joined us. I hope you had a good time reconnecting with your friends and making new ones. Thank you to the parents for sharing your kids with us on weekends and trusting in us to have a plan in place to keep them safe. A big shout out to the staff that gave up a good portion of their Saturdays and Sundays to help facilitate the camps; but the biggest shout out goes to Mike who without his deciphering regulations and putting together a safety plan, this camp would not have happened!
