Geneopedia 06.11.2020

One of the challenges of doing genomic research is the sheer size of data we are dealing with. As you may know Geneopedia is basically run on a shoe string, we have no outside backing what so ever so things have to be done in a "non standard" fashion. This week we are shucking hard drives. What is hard drive shucking? It is when a hard drive manufacturer puts a $500 enterprise drive in a $250 external usb consumer drive because people don't like paying a lot of money for external drives. Companies like ours exploit this by literally buying the externals and tearing apart the guts until we get to the gold! Now for the mere price of $1500 and our hyper compression algorithm we will soon host and share 1,000 genomes data and allow people to data process it on our platform. Not to shabby for no government research handouts.

The culmination of 18 months worth of effort to develop the next generation tools geneticists and doctors will need to identify and treat individuals with genetic disorders. We showed a few people in the genomics industry these tools and they were pretty excited as are we. https://vimeo.com/155340150

Thank you to Digital Rochester for selecting Geneopedia as one of 3 Finalist in their GREAT Award for Healthcare Technology. We should find out September 15th at their award ceremony if we have won it. http://digitalrochester.com/events/2015-great-awards/

We are now a semifinalists in the 43north competition. We are 1 of 110 companies selected out of 3000 submissions competing for the prize of a million dollars. They award the top 11 spots so we have to rank into the top 10% of the semi finalists. Wish us luck! http://www.43north.org/semifinalists

We have been accepted into the RIT Incubator, 10 out of 70 companies per year are selected and we made the cut. Today was move in day and we have plenty of room to grow!

I think we made a great splash at the Transcriptomics and Integrated Genomics Research Group at the U of R. It was a full house of researchers, geneticists, doctors, and bioinformaticians. We presented our Genzip compression system and gave a sneak peak at the artificial intelligence work we are doing. Some really great things came out of the meeting that are in the works, more to follow on that as things develop! Special thanks to Alex, Dina, Heather, and Jillian for making it possible, great team work!
