Genesee County Soil & Water Conservation District

We were pleased to work with the Village of LeRoy Department of Public Works and members of the Oatka Creek Watershed Committee to plant a host of native shrubs, wildflowers, and live stakes at Mill Street Park last week. This project will help to revegetate the bank with native species that will provide soil stabilization and wildlife habitat. Additionally, species were selected that will provide flowers that park visitors will enjoy. Thank you to everyone for your hard work and to Finger Lakes - Lake Ontario Watershed Protection Alliance for the funding assistance!

Completed project alert! Our District worked with a landowner to implement a covered heavy use area system in the Tonawanda Creek watershed. By covering the heavy use area, rain water on days like today is kept clean as it travels through the farmstead and towards the creek. Great to see our projects keeping our watersheds clean!

Day 2 of tree pick-up is underway!

Happy Earth Day! Our seedlings are all packed up for this weekend's tree pick up event! Pick up is Friday from 1-6 and Saturday from 9-noon at 5030 East Main St. Rd. in Batavia. We will be doing a drive through pick up event again this year to expedite the process and ensure social distancing. Please bring the postcard with order number to make pick up easier. ... Unfortunately, we do not have any overstock this year and will not be doing a shopping event. Happy planting!
