Whatcha doin today?? The Hinsdale Historical Society is hosting a spring walk today, Saturday, April 3rd, from 1:00 - 3:00 that includes stations along the Greenway where children can learn history related to Hinsdale and the canal. Prizes and goodies left by the Easter Bunny will be given out at each station. Social Distancing along the trail and at the stations has been planned out. All children need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Park at the Hinsdale Fire Hall. Thank you Hinsdale Boy Scout Troop #689 and the Hinsdale United Methodist Church for making this event possible. Get out and play!!

On the left, a lung. On the right, a tree. Notice the similarities? Trees clean our air and create oxygen so we can breath better. Everything is related on this planet.

****ACTION PLAN - PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETING**** We are in the home s t r e t c h ! ! During the past eight months, Genesee Valley Greenway State Park... has evaluated the trail's status to recommend a set of high impact projects that the Park will target for implementation. The study included a review of existing conditions, community guidance, and an evaluation of all proposed projects. In total, over fifty projects were evaluated and considered. These projects included park-wide initiatives, county-specific improvements, and regional connections. The findings of the Action Plan will be presented at a virtual public meeting via a Zoom webinar on August 20th and August 21st. The public is encouraged to participate. All draft meeting materials as well as the recorded meetings will be posted to the project website following the completion of the meetings. Feedback will be accepted for one month following this presentation. For more webinar log-in information please visit the project website: https://geneseevalleygreenway.com/ and click-on events. ****AS OF AUGUST 6th, the GREENWAY IS CLOSED FOR RESURFACING FROM RT 5 in Avon, to Canawaugus Park in the Village of Scottsville. The LEHIGH VALLEY TRAIL is open, however, the Greenway is closed to the north and south of it. There is NO public access from West River Rd (the trail is closed in that section anyway) until you reach Lehigh Valley Trail where there is a small parking area across from the Livingston Office Park (42.983040, -77.743401) almost 5 miles north from the... Erie-Attica Trail. THOSE OF YOU IGNORING THE CLOSURES, AND RIPPING OUR SIGNAGE DOWN PLEASE STOP. YOU ARE GETTING IN THE WAY OF PROGRESS AND WASTING MONEY. THE SURFACE NEEDS TIME TO CURE...PLEASE STAY OFF OF IT. THE MORE PEOPLE USING IT BEFORE IT IS READY WILL NOT ONLY DELAY US REOPENING, BUT WILL ALSO COST MORE MONEY TO CONTINUALLY FIX IT, WHICH WILL TAKE FUTURE FUNDING AWAY FROM OTHER ENHANCEMENTS. PLEASE BE PATIENT. ALL FARM LANES FROM WEST RIVER RD ARE PRIVATE PROPERTY. PLEASE DO NOT USE THESE AS GREENWAY ACCESS AS THE TRAIL IS CLOSED IN THIS SECTION. Let's all work together so we can reopen as soon as possible. Thank you.
