Dear Genesis Patients, we are so glad that you and your children are spending so much time outside! The weather has been delightful and we are very happy you are taking advantage of it. HOWEVER, we would like you to know that the ticks are not home sheltering or social distancing. They must not have gotten the memo. This is a reminder of how to deal with a tick bite. VIRTUAL VISITS NOW AVAILABLE! The first thing we would like to say is THANK YOU for all of the patience and good will during this trying time. Due to the Coronavirus outbreak, there have been many immediate changes in our office and the situation remains fluid. As of now, Genesis Pediatrics will be open for in office telemedicine well visits with the nurse available. Telemedicine visits are still available for sick visits. The office will be closed May 22-25 and then as of J...une 1st we will be moving to abbreviated office hours for the summer. As of now we are planning on having in office hours Tuesday through Thursday as well as offering telemedicine visit hours. Please answer your phone if you see the office number (518-489-6822) show up so we can speak with you and reschedule your well child appointments efficiently. We are instituting telemedicine VIDEO VISITS for urgent matters. These will be done through a system called Doxy.me. If you have an urgent matter please call the office number and follow the prompts. Dr. Bovenzi will text you a link to sign into her waiting room. You can do this from your cell phone or computer. Please be patient as we are trialing this new technology. So far this has been going very well. Please call the office prior to heading to any healthcare facility, unless it is an emergency. When having a visit, you may get an alert to start a visit, but we may be on a previous visit so please be patient. We can examine rashes, do psychosocial/ behavioral consults/ follow ups, and even look at red throats with these visits. We anticipate that this may become an adjunct to our present way of practicing. We obviously prefer face to face interactions, but the insurers and the government are greatly advocating this form of medicine in these times. Again, Thank you for your kindness and patience in this unprecedented time and stay safe.

Due to the desire to decrease the possible spread of COVID-19 in our community, we are undertaking the following steps: 1. We will be separating our exam rooms so that only healthy children will be examined in certain rooms. Sick patients will be using an alternate entrance into our building. 2. We are requesting that our patients call us from their vehicles before entering the building. When you arrive, please call our office and you will be directed to either enter the bui...lding or wait in your car until a room is available for you. 3. We ask that you do not bring siblings or extra relatives to the office visits. If possible, please limit it to the patient and one caregiver. 4. We will not be utilizing our waiting room during this time. We are requesting that there will be no stopping in the waiting room. Please know that stickers and lollipops are not going to be available during this time. Patient samples will only be available by request. 5. We will be doing a lot of phone triage. If symptoms are mild, we will likely be encouraging patients and their family to stay at home. 6. We are in close contact with the county and state health departments, and Albany Medical Center. As testing becomes more easily accessible and widespread, we will help facilitate necessary testing. There is NO IN OFFICE TEST at present so all testing at the outset of this pandemic will be done through hospital testing centers. This is a rapidly changing situation. Children seem to do better dealing with this virus than the elderly, but they may serve as a source of spread of the virus. These measures are an initial attempt to help decrease the spread of this virus in our community. Presently there are eleven cases in Albany County, but we anticipate that number to increase with increased testing. We thank everyone for their patience and support during this situation. Hopefully, together we can decrease the spread and the effect of Coronavirus on our community.

Our office will be closing 12/24 and reopen on 1/2 so that our doctors and staff can spend the holidays with their families. Our office will also be undergoing some renovations during this time.We look forward to see you in 2020!
