Celebrating our doctors today! #NationalPhysiciansWeek
Happy Doctor's Day to all of our GP physicians!!! #doctorsday2021 DID YOU KNOW that PHYSICIANS.... -Obtain a 4 Year Bachelors degree... -prepare for the MCAT (Medical College Admission Test) which tests knowledge of Biology, Organic Chemistry, writing, English and now Psychology In medical school on Day 1, it does not matter what past life you have led or previous career, all start on equal footing. -Medical students earn nearly in person 240 credit hours in the classroom extensively covering Gross Anatomy, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Pathology, Physiology, Immunology, Microbiology, History and Physical Exam, Neuroanatomy. -Medical students complete 240 MORE credits through 4000-5000 hours of clinical rotations during years 3 & 4 and take exams at the end of most core rotations. They attend daily rotations and then read more each night! Medical students have to pass 4 licensure exams: Step 1- covers basic sciences Step 2- covers clinical medicine during 4th year medical school Step CE/PE- Filmed as a 4th year examining patients over an 8 hour day and critiqued on their ability to clinically assess patients Step3: taking during intern year covering clinical medicine Without passing these 4 exams, one can not earn a medical license! RESIDENCY- at this point, physicians have an MD/DO degree but still need much more training. - there is a minimum of 3 year residency, directly supervised by attendings and achieving more than 14,000+ hours before one can even practice independently - in Residency there are five 1-hr noon lectures during the week, 1 hour of Grand Rounds, and teaching rounds on core rotations where cases are presented and discussed. - yearly in-training exams to assess our knowledge to make sure we are prepared to move on in residency. It is only after these 14,000+ directly supervised educational hours that a physician can practice independently! After that, many will go on to specialize even further!

Many of our GP staff received the 1st dose of the COVID vaccine today! We are thrilled to have received this gift and be a part of history! Even after receiving this vaccine, we will all continue to do our part to protect our families and our community by wearing a mask, avoiding gatherings and staying socially distant. #notthrowingawaymyshot #COVID #thisisourshot #COVID19 #science #socialdistancing #maskup #Pediatrics
#Repost @healthychildrenaap Teaching children to give thanks helps them understand gratitude as they grow. #Thanksgiving is a good reminder for families to reflect on things to be grateful for. What are you most thankful for?
Please read this important post about Asymptomatic COVID Testing. https://genesispediatrics.com//office-information/asympto/
Just a reminder that flu vaccine clinic appointments are with a NURSE ONLY, not a provider. If you have concerns about your child that you would like addressed, please make a separate appointment with a provider prior to your arrival for the flu vaccine appointment. Thank you for your understanding as we try to get patients in and out for their flu vaccine as timely as possible!
Expecting? Christina Minster is our Patient Care Coordinator who would love to speak with you about joining our GP family! Call us at 585-426-4100 to find out more information! *NOTE: While our in-office prenatal tours are currently "on hold" due to COVID-19, Christina would be happy to give you a phone or virtual tour of our office!
#Repost @ameracadpeds Today the AAP is going green for National Injury Prevention Day. K-12 parents in Monroe County, please share this video of Public Health Commissioner Dr. Michael Mendoza demonstrating the rapid test that the schools will start using next week. NOTE: This is NOT the nasopharyngeal swab. As you can see, the swab doesn't go very far, just right inside each nostril. Please understand that the purpose of testing our children in schools is to have an accurate infection rate in the county. The more negative tests, the lower our rate of infection. This is what we need to keep the children IN school!
