April 30th is National Historic Marker Day! The Town of Genoa has 11 historic markers located in King Ferry and Genoa. The historical markers are significant in helping to preserve the town's history. Take the opportunity and travel around to locate these markers and share pride in your community.

The GHA had a local history writer, Jim Farfaglia, from Fulton, New York reach out to us with a research request: "I am currently researching for a new book on major Central New York snowstorms. In 2015, I published Voices in the Storm, a look back at the Blizzard of ’66 that included memories from over 200 Central New Yorkers. Now I’m collecting stories that cover our memorable winter storms from the last two hundred years. Perhaps you or someone you know survived a particu...larly brutal winter. Or perhaps they have family members or friends from years gone by who shared a story or two about Central New York’s infamous snowstorms. I’d appreciate the opportunity to hear those stories. I can be reached via email, [email protected], or through my website, www.jimfarfaglia.com, or by telephone, 315 402-6164 (leave a message). I can also contact those with stories if they agree to have you share their contact information." If you have any questions regarding this request, please email the GHA at: [email protected] or call 315-364-8202. Thank you! This is a great time of year to reminisce about those crazy blizzards from years past (1958, 1993, etc!)

The King Ferry Fire Department posted this photo to see if anyone could name the fire department members from years ago. Can anyone identify anyone in the photo? Let us know!

This coming weekend, July 31-August 1 would have been the 21st Annual Wheat Harvest festival. The GHA canceled this special event due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Our priority is always keeping the community and it's families safe. However, this doesn't mean we can't reminisce! Check out the Photo Albums on this Facebook page! You can see photos from past festivals! Like! Share! Enjoy!
