We love welcoming bright new faces to Yonkers! Brooklyn native and millennial, Denise Francis, moved to Yonkers from Brooklyn this July. The move allowed Denise the opportunity to live in her dream apartment at an affordable price. I was looking all over New York City, all of the boroughs, New Jersey, basically everywhere - but, I was pretty unsuccessful finding a place that was beautiful, worth the price and not too far away. So, this Brooklyn girl ended up in Yonkers beca...use this had all the things that I needed. Denise works as an art director at a Brooklyn non-profit, is the CEO of The Self Love Organization and she’s a content creator on YouTube. We are so happy to have her in Yonkers! Check out why Denise moved to Yonkers here: https://cnb.cx/3nesOUc

Good riddance! 2020 was most definitely not the year we anticipated (aka a global pandemic). While cancelling all New Years Eve plans sounds relaxing, we believe it’s important to live by Napoleon’s famous saying, In victory, one deserves it; in defeat one needs it. Here are a few coronavirus-friendly ways to celebrate the end of 2020 and the bright future ahead: - Prepare the perfect cocktails! Websites like delish.com have free, easy and delicious cocktail recipes you hav...e to try. - Make an at-home movie theater and use Teleparty or another streaming service to watch something fun with faraway friends and family. - Write flexible, realistic and entertaining 2021 resolutions. FaceTime with friends and family to share your hopes and aspirations. - Bake and decorate! There’s no way like celebrating than baking a cake, decorating it festively and enjoying it! - Watch the New York City Virtual Ball Drop! For once, you can be sitting at home without missing out on the celebrations in NYC! - Get a bottle of Champagne to pop at midnight!

In the past seven days, over 1.4 million cases of coronavirus have been reported across the United States. In Westchester, there have been over 4,000 cases reported. With this being said, the CDC has announced that the safest way to celebrate winter holidays this year is at home, with the people you live with. Traveling and gathering with friends and family who do not live with you can increase your chances of getting and spreading COVID-19. We know that there is no place l...ike home for the holidays and being surrounded by loved ones is what makes the holidays so special, so here are some ideas for celebrating the winter holidays safely: - Host a virtual celebration with friends and family. Schedule a time to eat a meal with loved ones or host a virtual ugly sweater contest. - Decorate for the season! Decorate or create a winer holiday scene and taking holiday photos at home. Make holiday crafts, cards or baked goods and send or deliver to family, friends and neighbors. - Look up holiday crafts DIY for unique and fun activities! - Drive or walk around your community to look at decorations or visit a local holiday light display. - Enjoy the winter weather. Build a snowman, snow fort, or go sledding! - Find virtual opportunities to help those in need.

While celebrating Thanksgiving amid a global pandemic is not ideal, it is possible. We’re here to help you celebrate safely! Over the last seven days, over one million COVID-19 cases have been reported in the United States. Because of this, the CDC has recommended that the safest way to celebrate Thanksgiving is to celebrate at home with the people you live with. Just because you’re home doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate with people you love. Schedule a time to host a virtual Thanksgiving meal with friends and family who don’t live with you. During dinner, have people share recipes and show their turkey, dressing, or other dishes they prepared. Virtual attendees can also participate in a gratitude activity, like writing down things you are grateful for and sharing with your friends and family.

Halloween evening will most likely look very different this year. With the CDC discouraging Trick or Treating due to the current pandemic, here are a few different ways to celebrate Halloween this year: - Carve Pumpkins: There’s no better way to celebrate Halloween than carving a pumpkin! Stop by Stew Leonard's and grab a pumpkin for the entire family! - Spooky Sweets: Whether you decorate Halloween-shaped sugar cookies or make a Frankenstein cake, themed baking is a great way to get into the spooky spirit! Not in the mood to bake? Visit La Pinata Bakery to pick up some festive treats! - Halloween Movie Night: Make a pillow fort and watch your favorite scary movies! - Enjoy a Creative Halloween Drink: Parents deserve to celebrate too! Visit delish.com for some of our favorite Halloween cocktails!
