Social media is NOT a "build it and they will come" kind of deal. There's a huge misconception that simply posting on social media will magically increase your sales and the followers will just roll inif only! I don't care how beautiful your photos are, if you don't have a strategy, you're not going to get very far. Without a strategy, the money you're spending on photography and/or graphic design is a wasted effort as far as social goes. A social strategy doesn't just... tell you when to post, what to post, and what hashtags to use. With the right social strategy, you'll also see results that are tied to your wider business goals. You can expect a social media strategy to: Stay top of mind with your audience Generate new leads Develop targeted marketing and remarketing initiatives Form deeper connections with your customers Increase your brand awareness Get instant customer feedback Increase website traffic Get more sales Land new customers ***Are you ready to make social media work harder for you? STOP PROMOTING (all the time, that is)! While there's no secret formula for engaging with your audience, the 80/20 rule is part of many social media marketing strategies for good reason. (Keep reading and I'll tell you how it works) Social media is SOCIAL. While 54% of people on any given platform ARE researching products, they are NOT here to be sold to. What a contradiction, huh? Think about browsing for something in a store. Even though you're interested in making a... purchase, you probably don't want the sales person hovering over you, trying to sell you on every single item you glance at. You just wanted to browse in peace for crying out loud! Same goes for social media. ""But, Brook, how am I supposed to sell on here? That's why I'm here!"" I hear you. You can't sell without promoting I know that. You know that. Your customers know that. It's all about striking the right balance. Finally, introducing... THE 80/20 RULE: When planning your content, 80% should be dedicated to what interests your audience. For example: is your audience interested in skincare? Then they'll probably be interested in content that educates them about different ingredients, what they do, and how to use them. This 80% is what will draw your audience to you in the first place! 20% of your content should be dedicated to selling to your audience. This can include discounts, special offers, sales, and highlighting what you sell. Make sure these posts always end with a clear call-to-action so your audience knows how to take advantage of what you're offering. ...... If you had to guess, what percent of your content is interest-based right now?

That means that over half the people scrolling through Instagram are researching products they're interested in using *cough cough* THIS MEANS YOUR PRODUCTS! This makes it all the more important to regularly feature not just beautiful product photos, but information on your products that helps customers make the choice to choose you. Don't forget to include content that answers customer questions, such as:... How will your product help your customers? What ingredients do you use? How will it fit into your customers' routines? Who could benefit from this? Is your product sustainable? And anything else you know your audience is interested in! See more
