Emotions are information. Examining the information that emotions give us and learning to respond to the information can be seen as a strength versus a weakness. For example , recognizing ongoing feelings of sadness associated with a certain relationship may lead you to consider walking away from the relationship. Accepting your emotions doesn’t mean you have to like your emotions, who wants to feel hurt!? When we apologize for our emotions, we are truly doing ourselves a disservice and may be neglecting important pieces of information.

Holding onto anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die. When we hold onto hate and anger, we are the ones who actually suffer. Often times there are underlying emotions contributing to anger and hate, such as feeling hurt or betrayed. You may think it’s impossible to forgive the person who hurt you. While it may seem unrealistic, forgiveness could look different to everyone and each person’s process is unique. Overcoming suffering through forgiveness could help on your journey to healing.
