Please consider helping Katie with her project to Benefit Gilead Food Pantry:( Katie is Mary Temple's Grandaughter) Katie’s Senior Capstone Project: Hello Newtown neighbors! My name is Katie Stan. I’m a current senior at Newtown High School and for my capstone project, I decided to research how poverty affects hygiene, specifically in regards to feminine hygiene. I also researched the levels of period poverty, mainly in our community and some surrounding communities. Period p...overty is a global issue that affects women who don’t have access to or lack safe, hygienic feminine products. This is a serious issue facing many low-income women and girls either homeless or that can’t afford to buy these basic feminine necessities. I was shocked after doing my research and wanted to help. I decided that I wanted to hold a drive to make feminine care kits. These care kits would contain a couple pads and tampons as well as a note or some sort of sweet treat just to let these women know that we are thinking of them and that they are loved. I have reached out to the Women’s Center in Danbury and they are on board with my idea. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in helping me out and donating what they can.
