Estate sales are in full swing and we're finding treasures to restock come spring. Glorious amethyst earrings and cuff bracelet ready for holiday parties, couture velvet hats,silk scarves, throw in the German Shepard for good measure! Fun!

A few snowflakes today so it's wrap time for the summer shop. We shopped today at a terrific estate sale in our University neighborhood. So fortunate to live amidst so many world travellers and sophisticates. Our finds are never boring! Stocking up for our spring reopening. We found some FABULOUS holiday rhinestone pieces for that special event... We sold our gorgeous restored copper boiler at the last minute as well as the Baccarat crystal chandelier...and yet another Mexican folk art rooster! We also managed to sell some special items for people on consignment, so if you have something to sell, please don't hesitate to contact us. Advice is free, and sometimes even worthwhile!

Columbus Day weekend is OVER!!!! It was cold but worthwhile! One folk art rooster flew away as well as a pedestal urn. Lawn and garden ornaments have generated plenty of interest this year. There aren't lots of places to find trellises, birdbaths, topiary forms et al. Look for an expanded line next spring to complement our garden perennials. I'll be potting up some Japanese anemonies (windflowers) soon...truly marvellous color at the end of the season. They escaped the frost three nights ago!!! We'll be open into October on warm days. Make sure to call first before driving from far afield!

Well it's Labor Day Weekend!!! Glimmerglass Festival is over and now it's time for the "lakers" to tuck in their cottages and head home. We still have leaf-peepers to look forward to. Autumn is a gorgeous time to be here! Sorry to hear nearby brooklynbridgeantiques.com is going out of business. There are few places left where one can find an interesting array of antiques and collectibles in Otsego County. We'll do our best to pick up the slack!!!
