Congratulations to GMHC CEO, Kelsey Louie, for being recognized in City and State NY's Non Profit Power 100 list, which acknowledges nonprofit leaders who are serving the most vulnerable New Yorkers. We are incredibly proud, and deeply honored to have such an esteemed member of society leading the helms of our organization! "Kelsey Louie heads GMHC, the world’s first organization providing HIV/AIDS services, including HIV testing, food assistance, housing support and workforc...e development. In 2014, he joined Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s task force charged with ending the AIDS epidemic statewide by 2020, and serves on the boards of directors for the NMAC, formerly known as the National Minority AIDS Council, and the Network for Social Work Management." Today is Election Day. We at GMHC understand the hardships of working with less and what plays out when a government prioritizes profit over people. Yet, we still fight for our underrepresented, marginalized communities who slip through public safety nets EVERY DAY. VOTE like your life depends on it.

On Dec. 8, a ground-breaking report, Moving Ahead Together: A Framework for Integrating HIV/AIDS & Aging Services, was released, as part of the Grantmakers In Aging’s (GIA) Moving Ahead Together initiative, supported by Gilead Sciences. The report provides a comprehensive framework of recommendations for strengthening the integration of HIV and aging care and services through increased awareness and understanding, more customized programs, closer cross-sector connection, and stronger policymaking. In response to the aging of the HIV epidemic, GMHC continues to be a leader in developing holistic programs that address the unmet, complex, health, and social needs of people 50 years and older, who are living with HIVwhich includes long-term survivors. This Wednesday, Nov. 4 GMHC will be distributing FREE healthy and shelf-stable meals to our clients on a walk-in basis between 12-2PM. Why? Because COVID and election-induced anxiety won’t stop us from providing our clients access to a healthy diet! Simply put, we know HIV weakens your immune system. Because your body uses nutrients to keep up its defenses against germs, eating well can help you fight off infections. It can also boost your energy, keep you strong..., help you avoid health complications, and ease issues brought on by HIV and its treatments. For more info about our Grab n’ Go Meals please contact [email protected]. See more

Join GMHC on Wednesday Oct. 21 for our virtual gala as we honor Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, who has worked to end the HIV/AIDS epidemic since its earliest days. Notably, he collaborated with activists to change the ways in which the government conducted drug trials and increasing access to experimental HIV treatments. As NIAID director, Fauci has also been on the frontlines of the government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. GMHC is proud to honor this extraordinary individual for his decades-long commitment to ending the AIDS epidemic. Porter won his first Emmy for his role in the acclaimed show Pose FX, which delves into New York's underground house-ballroom culture of the 1980s and ‘90s, during the height of the HIV/AIDS crisis. Throughout his career on stage, screen, and behind a microphone, Billy Porter has championed the civil and human rights of marginalized communities. She also has helped to expand access to Medicaid for people living with HIV and to increase funding for the Ryan White CARE Act, the AIDS Drug Assistance Program..., the Minority HIV/AIDS Initiative and other federal initiatives vital to people living with or at risk for HIV/AIDS. We are humbled to honor Speaker Nancy Pelosi for her tireless work expanding protections and resources for people living with HIV/AIDS.
