Hey All - new collaborative project (in the style of the indivisible guide) to hopefully help all of us out here in WNY. 211 is useful, but it often doesn't contain the information we need at the tips of our fingers (or that extra information like "btw, take this bus line instead, it runs quicker/closer to the agency your client is trying to get to, or use the third side door to the left" or all of that other institutional knowledge that we gather as we go along the way that... we often share with our clients, but would be helpful if we centralized). I'm hoping you will all help by contributing to the GnomesGuide at www.GnomesGuide.org (a collaborative google document). Know of a Social Service agency? Please feel free to add it. Know of a new service that we should know to share with our clients? Post it up (alphabetical order by category). Find out about a new form? Please link to it. We all have those resource lists, binders, folders, and rolodexes in our offices...but they often don't get updated, so I'm hoping that we'll be able to use this as one 'living' referral guide for our clients. It's easy to access by cell phone to so if we're meeting with someone in the office, at their home, or in the hospital, we should be able to share resources with them. The only ground rules are no posting of private/cell phone numbers, NASW code of ethics always apply, no sharing of private/agency only information (i.e. internal numbers, proprietary information, etc.). No sharing of anything that would compromise agency, worker, or client safety. It's set to comments only right now, and I am looking for editors who would be willing to help approve comments, and work on it on a regular basis. Anyway, if you're interested (at whatever level) it's here, and I hope it will be a (more active than not) work in progress.
