Learning how to float on your belly is an important step in learning how to swim! This skill helps teach swimmers how to remain calm and how to balance properly in the water. It also is the first step in learning the most important swimming and LIFE SAVING skill of them all - the roll over. Teaching a swimmer roll over to their back for breath during swimming allows them to swim longer distances. A small child has the ability to swim the entire length of the pool by rolling on their backs for breath and turning back over to swim since they are able to rest and breathe whenever needed!

Candace graduated University of Albany with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. She has a son, Carson, whom she loves bringing to Goldfish for swim lessons in the Mini class. She prides herself in making sure that children succeed at being safe in and out of the water. In her spare time, she ...loves traveling with her husband and family around the world making new memories. She truly does meet the true definition of Integrity : the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles; moral uprightness.

We do the right things, make the right decisions and treat people with Integrity - Compassion - Trust Today we are highlighting COMPASSION. We understand that most children come into lessons fearful. They may be anxious to leave their parents, nervous about going under water and/or meeting new people. At Goldfish, compassion is at the top of our list when it comes to the care we provide to our swimmers. During lessons, we also have additional hands on deck to assist with crying or nervous children. We also have loads of toys readily available for swimmers to play with and to help comfort them!

Core Value Celebration of the week : We do the right things, make the right decisions and treat people with Integrity - Compassion - Trust. Building trust is an important step in learning how to swim for both swimmers and parents. Every month we practice our Life Guarding skills in depth so your children can practice their swimming skills in a safe environment.

Swimmers who are still getting used to swimming, a good pair of goggles can be a lifesaver! Initially, kids fear to put their head underwater, wearing goggles reduces their anxiety. Swimming goggles allows them to keep their eyes open and explore the underwater world and enjoy more water activities.

Does your child have a fear of going under water? Learning how to blow bubbles is a fun yet effective way to introduce breath control to beginner swimmers at ANY age! The best part about learning how to blow bubbles is that it can be done in swim class and at home! Take bath time to the next level by practicing breath control. Grab a pair of goggles and place an object at the bottom of the tub and have your swimmer blow bubbles while grabbing the object! If your child is still hesitant, rather than saying "put your eyes in", say "put your goggles in" and remember to CELEBRATE!
