Happy Friday! We are working hard to do as much as possible this summer in an effort to be able to rescue more animals in need. More specifically, we are working hard toward being able to rescue more pigs and create a bachelor pad for ducks and roosters BUT we can’t move forward without fencing! I wish I could describe all the feelings this brings to be. The boys happily eat their breakfast with no rushing out of worry the other will steal their food. They both swarm the gate *together* bumping into one another without snapping or getting angry with one another. They graze together. They nap near one another. They both run to the fence to greet me *together* when I get home. Their little pack is exactly what they both needed. If you saw my stories the other day, Ol...lie doesn’t like for me to see their bonding, but my helicopter mom self (thanks Amy ) is always watching even when they don’t see me! Belle is so freakin’ pretty She is such an interesting hen and I really enjoy sitting back and watching her. She’s not an in crowd kind of chicken. She keeps to herself and occasionally you’ll see her with Norma or Sol. She beats the the tune of her own drum and likes to operate in stealth mode most of the time. And I can totally relate! Social anxiety is real AF! And here we are on another Monday- and I’d love nothing more than to be hidden from the world. But, it’s a ...work day so I have to people despite the anxiety I’m experiencing. I’m trying to redirect my energy to the positive and the one thing that is keeping me grounded is knowing that while I may be forced to be unbearably uncomfortable in my anxious bones Belle gets to always choose whether she wants to socialize or not. JS (short for Jon Snow) total heartthrob Roosters are so misunderstood. JS would die for his ladies. If ever there is a predator, he alerts everyone while he himself stands out in the wide open so whatever predator is there will go for him instead of his ladies. Roosters live to serve their flocks. Nothing is more important to them. Whoever JS finds an extra delicious snack, he makes these tiny little clucks to call over the girls so THEY can have it. He doesn’t dust ba...the until after the girls do, as he knows how vulnerable they are in that position. And what some people call aggressive is really just him devoting his whole entire self to ensuring the safety of his lady friends. Can some roosters be difficult to manage? Absolutely.
