The KUV offers its condolences to the family of our deceased member Ignaz (Fred) Unfried on the passing of his daughter, Anita Unfried Wunsch, on Sunday, Aug. 23rd. Anita is survived by her mother Irma Jonke Unfried, of Hornberg, Gottschee, husband Ernie Wunsch and sons Christopher and Nicholas. RIP Anita, Ruhe in Frieden. The Gottscheer KUV regrets to announce the passing of KUV Ehrenmitglied, Siegfried Schemitsch, Buch Nummer 488. He was 95. Siegfried was born in 1925 in Verdreng Gottschee to Franz and Josephine Schemitsch. The Schemitsch family were long time caretakers of the local chapel in Verdreng. The Schemitsch family emigrated to the United States in 1950. Siegfried joined the KUV on March 31, 1951. He worked in construction and with his partners built many homes in Brooklyn and State...n Island. He was a long time resident of Staten Island and previously resided in Ridgewood. He is survived by his wife Anna, son Edmund, daughter-in-law Susan, daughter Irene (Tramposch) and son-in-law Tom. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was also Onkel to KUV Finanz Sekretär Reinhard Schmuck and Trustee John Schmuck. Services will remain private and for the immediate family. Please join the KUV in offering our condolences to the Schemitsch family.
