****Public Awareness Stolen Catalytic Converters**** In the past two days the Gouverneur Police Department has received two separate reports of motor vehicle catalytic converter thefts from three pickup trucks. Thieves target catalytic converters because they contain rare earth metals (platinum, palladium or rhodium) that are valuable to metal dealers. Fuel powered vehicles manufactured after 1974 have catalytic converters making most vehicles a potential target. We believ...e the involved vehicles were targeted because they have more ground clearance making it easier for a person to fit under the vehicle and access the catalytic converter. In each incident the catalytic converter was sawed/cut off. A victim will be able to tell if their converter is missing as soon as they start it up as it will be louder then usual. This kind of crime is very costly and inconvenient to the owner and we want everyone to be aware this kind of crime was happening in our community. We would ask that if anyone has any information about these thefts, they contact the Gouverneur Police Department at 315-287-2121. See more

COVID-19 convalescent plasma is a type of blood donation given by those who've recovered from this coronavirus. Their plasma contains antibodies that may help patients actively fighting the virus. If you’ve recovered from COVID-19, sign up to give with the American Red Cross at RedCrossBlood.org/Plasma4COVID. Did you know a positive COVID-19 antibody test result does not make you ineligible to donate blood? In fact, the plasma from your blood donation may go to help someone fighting COVID-19! Make your next American Red Cross blood donation at rcblood.org/appt.
