We've announced an opportunity to create a new home for green businesses and non-profits at Building 301 on Governors Island’s eastern shore. An RFP seeks developers and operators for the adaptive reuse of this historic, waterfront building as a hub of commercial, non-profit, and/or academic uses related to sustainability and climate change. This new space is an early step in the long-term vision to establish a leading, global center for climate solutions on Governors Island. Support the Governors Island Giving Drive and get a special invitation to early access to Pumpkin Point! Donate at https://www.classy.org//governors-island-2020-givi/c305259 and learn about the other amazing Island experiences included at different gift levels. Wondering why we’re doing a Giving Drive? Every year, the Friends of Governors Island raises nearly 75% of the funding needed to care for the Island’s lush rolling hills, vibrant flowers and young forest. In a normal year, the majority of this funding comes to us through events. While we’re unable to gather in person this year for our annual gala, we are turning to our fellow New Yorkers to help us fill the gap and provide critical care for Governors Island's open spaces.
Enjoy the cool autumn air on Governors Island. Sunny fall days are the perfect time to explore the Island’s open spaces, historic surroundings, unbeatable vistas and more.
