I BELIEVE THAT GOD IS CHALLENGING THE PEOPLE OF GOUVERNEUR AND SURROUNDING AREA'S TO STEP UP TO GOD, ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN RECEIVING FOOD FOR YEARS FROM THIS CHURCH AND YOU MIGHT AS WELL SAY IT WAS FROM GOD BECAUSE IT TRULY WAS AND IS. PEOPLE OF SAINT LAWRENCE COUNTY, HEED THE CALL OF GOD OR SEE THE BIGGEST ON GOING MIRACLE THIS AREA HAS EVER SEEN COME TO A CLOSE. COPY OF RECENT EDITORIAL IN LOCAL PAPER Hi, it’s me again, Pastor Bob, reminding you my beloved community family about the less fortunate in the north country. Usually when I write these editorials, it is because there is a pressing dire need. Well, it is true, there is a dire need. As shared, earlier, St. James food pantry has closed and combined with us, so we are getting most of their former clients. On the positive side, we are getting huge amounts of food out to over one... thousand to fifteen hundred people a month. We have approximately sixty volunteers. No one is paid. We are running twenty seven freezers. Unfortunately, our utilities grant this year was cut back because there have been cut backs all across the board this year. We are still trying to raise funds to buy a twenty kilowatt natural gas generator that will protect all that food when the power goes out This year, I have heard about more people having no fuel than ever before and having to do extremely dangerous things just to keep warm. So, if we can save the folks some money by supplying food, that might loosen up some funds for fuel. I know that our economy is supposed to be booming right now, but you would not know it by the amount of people coming through the pantry. Every week I see people come through the doors that have a look in their eyes that says it all. Their eyes are saying, I can’t believe that I have to come to a food pantry People lose their jobs and quickly find themselves in between a rock and a hard place. In some cases, these were those who mocked and put down people who needed the food pantry. Never say never. The bottom line is that some of our biggest contributors have disappeared and we need to fill the gap somehow with God’s help, He always does. Sometimes I wish that the king of contributor’s will show up and plop down a cool million, but that hasn’t happened yet, obviously. We are taking running vehicles, motorcycles, and boats. And just a reminder, as much as we do appreciate any food donations. If there is a question about buying food for the food pantry, giving us the cash, instead, would be more potent. We can buy food from the food bank at fourteen cents a pound on just about anything. You can’t buy anything at the grocery store for that kind of money. Lastely, we do need volunteers. The main need is for truck unloaders and the second would be for PR people. Folks who have a talent to write letters and even write grants. We are desperately in need of funding for a few things. The first thing is for food. We have used up our grant for this year and have to pay for all our orders from the Syracuse food bank. We need two freezers. We need a large natural gas generator. We are still maintaining our current large package of food for each client God is able. We are receiving donated vehicles, houses, and boats.
