Grace Chapel Assembly of God 05.06.2021

Tuesday Devotional Many of you may already know the story of David and Goliath. Here is David, a Shepard boy, who by faith stands up and says that he will fight against a huge giant named Goliath. (1 Samuel 17) People believed it would be the end of David’s life trying to defeat a huge giant. But God had other plans. David trusted in the Lord and knew that God was with him. He defeated the giant! What about our lives? Has God called us to face a giant in our lives that seems... impossible? What if God is calling you to face that financial burden? What if God is calling you to face that job loss or sickness? Whatever the giant of fear is, God has called you to overcome, and overcome the impossible! And He is with you; David didn’t need to know Goliath’s strength because He already knew God’s! As we enter into a new season of life there may be giants on our path, but God is Almighty, and we can face anything that comes our way! Isaiah 43:1 states, Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. -Pastor Candace

Tuesday Devotional Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to Godthis is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will ishis good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:1-2 How do we test and approve what Gods will is? We need to not conform to this... world and instead be transformed by the renewing of our mind. And what do we learn about Gods will? It is good, pleasing and perfect! I know it can be hard to renew our minds especially in today’s world, but God helps us through His Holy Spirit and over time we too can be transformed. We need to know that this life is a journey. We are being sanctified. There will be ups and downs. But we need to remember that the Lord is always with us no matter the peaks or the valleys. We need to be careful of what the world tells us, and we need discernment in today’s times. If we believe the lies that come at us, they can conform us to the ways of the world. When we take a step back and remember that truth is found in the Word of God, we observe the way of the world and measure it with what God says. I have mentioned it a few times, the enemy is always at work and wants to distract us. When we are renewing our minds, we are starting a new diet that is rooted in complete trust in God’s love for us and we are taking the Word of God and spending time thinking and meditating on it. The more we do that the less the enemy has to bother us and when our lives begin to change, we can experience true spirituality. We grow, mature and deepen our relationship with God. These times we are living in, it gives me more of a desire to be rooted into the word of God. I want what God wants for me; I don’t want to be part of the world. I am thankful I am saved and that I am not part of the world. I am thankful to serve a God who saved me. 1st John 2:15 states, "Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them." -Pastor Candace

Tuesday Devotional Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16). When we are in a time of need do we come to the throne of grace in confidence? James 5:16, "states the effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much." When we are in need are we coming before the Lord and searching God’s word? It is important to come before God not just when there is a storm or a need. We should ...come before the Lord even when things in life are good. God wants us to stand firm on His promises all the time. As Christians we know there will be trials and tribulations, but God wants us to always pray and give thanks. Let’s persevere and keep running the race with endurance fixing our eyes on the prize. (Hebrews 12:2) That prize is Jesus Christ. No matter where we are in life lets pray, persevere and praise God. God has given us so much: Are you thankful for what God has done in your life? Psalm 34:1 says, I will praise the Lord no matter what happens. I will constantly speak of his glories and grace. I am thankful for all that God has done for me and it is important to reflect on the positive and not the negative. We can rest in the promises of God. See more

Tuesday Devotional In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. -Ephesians 6:16 We are to have a shield of faith; in other words, in all circumstances have a shield of faith. In Genesis 15:1 we read about God as our shield: After this, the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward. God is our shield, and faith comes in by beli...eving what we may not see. In our circumstances we need faith to believe that God will protect us and shield us from the evil one. We are to put on the full armor of God and be ready for what is to come. In the word of God, it says in this world there will be trouble but do not fear because we are in Christ and Jesus overcame the world (John 16:33). The enemy is a prowling lion and ready to devour anyone, but we are to take up the shield of faith and fight back at what comes at us with the Word of God! (1 Peter 5:8) God is our shield! Be encouraged! Psalm 3:3 states, But you, O Lord, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head. The Lord is our shield! See more

Tuesday Devotional A few weeks ago, I was in my quiet time with the Lord and these words came to me, Waiting in the boat during the storm. The story about Noah came to my mind. You see God specifically chose Noah to build the ark. As Noah was waiting for the flood to come and for God’s plans to come to pass, he was being obedient to the Lord and preparing for the flood by building the ark that would keep him and his family safe. I think about my own life; Dan and I have be...en waiting and praying for two specific things in our lives for two years. As we are waiting, we feel we are in an ark sometimes while the storm is around us. This storm could be like a flood, but it’s a flood of doubt or uncertainty or anxiety. But here is the answer and the promise: As we are waiting and obedient, God is working! As the storm is brewing and we are waiting in the ark God is doing something. And God never fails. Noah knew the Lord spoke to him and he was obedient. Now Noah and his family were in the ark for months but they were safe the whole way through! (Genesis 7 &8) In Genesis 8:1 it says, But God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and the livestock that were with him in the ark, and he sent a wind over the earth, and the waters receded. God takes cares of us and while we are in the boat God sees us. We don’t need to be fearful. God took care of Noah and his family. God takes care of us even when we don’t see it. When God speaks to our heart, listen and be encouraged because He is doing something. Romans 8:18 I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. See more
