Working for a high-net-worth individual may seem like a daunting challenge for most. Some may turn to books, or networking sites for the answers, but in fact, they have little understanding about what it means to be a part of this niche industry. For me, it all started at twenty when I was placed as an Event Coordinator at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum in New York City. I spent countless hours observing high-net-worth individuals, celebrities, presidents, former pres...idents and dignitaries alike. It took several weeks, but I would walk around the ship speaking to as many people as I possibly could. Once I was able to develop a sense of trust with these people, I began to make valuable connections. Yes, I was an event coordinator, but I knew that the relationships that I had fostered with these individuals would be vital in the future. Nothing is lost, and something of great significance could be gained. I wasn't looking to sell them a pitch or making them millions. Instead, I was a solid and trusted contact that they could depend upon. I watched so many people desperately trying so hard to appear genuine, and these individuals spend their entire lives riding the coat tails of others. This was never my approach. In this industry, you are quickly removed if you are not authentic. About 85% of the people that I encounter just aren't suitable for this Industry. I know this. It is hard to say precisely what attributes or characteristics you need to possess to be a perfect candidate. However; honesty, respect and professionalism are a good place to start.
