Thank goodness this is over.

Greenwood Grape and Still 14.04.2021

There’s lots of wine in that warehouse and now some of our deliveries have been delayed. Not sure what else 2020 can bring us in the next few days but you might want to pick up some Whiskey before the next week ! https://www.nj.com/galleries/Q43GP6MGDNGVBKQGV24FTA2XMU/

https://www.nytimes.com//r/greenwood-heights-brooklyn.html It's nice to get a mention in the NY Times article about our neighborhood!

Another one of our hand-picked gems receives some love from the NYTimes ! Credit...Tony Cenicola/The New York Times Raína Umbria Grechetto 2018 $19.50 The most common white from Umbria is Orvieto, named after the charming town that is the center of the region. But Orvieto is a blended wine, and more and more producers recently have been focusing on one of the components, grechetto. This unfiltered wine, from Francesco Mariani of Raína, is biodynamically grown. It’s uncommonly golden, as if it were oxidized, but it’s decidedly not. Rather it’s fresh and assertive, dry and spicy, with just a light tannic touch from a brief period of contact with the skins. (Panebianco, New York)

Friday evening is here and we're going to explore some fantastic wines from Italy this evening! We'll begin by tasting a delicious, bio-dynamic, organic white from Liguria which is in North Western Italy. Made entirely from the Pigato grape, manual harvesting and fermentation in stainless steel tanks lead to a wine that is incredibly crisp. With notes of moss, broom flowers, sage, rosemary, thyme and white peach, this is a great match for antipasti and seafood plates or simpl...y as an aperitif by itself. Our next wine is a red from Alto Adige. Made entirely from the Lagrein grape which is famous for being fruity yet remarkably dry. This sipper is deceivingly full for a light bodied wine and offers notes of red and dark berries with hints of chocolate and roasted coffee. The finish is nice and long with very soft tannins. We finish our tasting with a red blend from Umbria that has native grapes as well as Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon. Unique is to put it lightly as this wine has its grapes fermented separately for a period of about twenty days at a controlled temperature below 25C. After blending, ten percent is aged for six months in oak barriques while the other ninety ages in stainless steel. once bottled, the result is an intense red with purplish reflections that exhibits notes of balsamic and blackberry jam along with soft tannic structure and clean acidity. Stop by and support Italy by toasting to their recovery by tasting all three! From 5 to 8pm. See more

Thursday is here and we have some great wines from classic wine growing regions to help us get keep our anxieties down and spirits up through such interesting times. We begin with a white that is made from Graševina and Welschriesling grapes. A clean nose of vibrant fruit reveals grapefruit and apples on the palate, a touch of creaminess with counter-weighing minerality and great viscosity supported by mouth watering acidity. This white will do well with heartier meats not t...raditionally paired with whites. We continue with a red made entirely from Blaufränkisch grapes. This is a special premium dark, ruby-colored wine with an aroma that resembles over ripened blackberries, chocolate, black mulberries and dried plums. Fruity aromas are nicely rounded up with wood characteristics both in scent and in flavor, with a noticeably long velvet finish. This classic year round wine pairs well with all grilled meats and even Pizza! We end our tasting with an organic Croatian red made entirely with the native Plavic Mali grape. This is one of the most well integrated wines we've encountered with the acid to tannin ratio being perfect in our opinion. Black cherry flavors, notes of pepper, smoke and spice intermingle on your palate with its medium bodied richness that can pair with almost any foods, from Charcuterie to Fried chicken. We love this wine. Stop by and get a break from the insanity by trying all three! From 5 to 8pm. See more
