In a time when everybody is so focused on scary numbers, I thought I would post some more positive figures. The Greene IDA has completed the collection of PILO...T payments and distribution to the taxing jurisdictions for 2020. I wanted to share a summary that we update every year on the projects that are located within the shovel ready business parks developed by the agency. I also included the Athens Generating project as we often see comments on social media as to how that project has brought no benefits to the community. In addition to tracking the actual PILOT payments made, the IDA also tracks what the property on which the business is located would have generated in property tax had it remained undeveloped and based on pre-development assessments. These figures only include Town/County/School taxes paid and not special districts (fire, ambulance, library) as those are paid at 100%. It is also important to note that these new revenues did not come with additional costs to any of the taxing jurisdictions. Not one single taxing jurisdiction has had to increase their budget due to the presence of these companies in the community. In full disclosure, two business parks, KCP and GBTP did result in ~ 1/2 mile of road being turned over to Greene County. Conversely, the IDA has invested over $16,000,000 in new water,sewer, natural gas, transportation and other infrastructure such as environmental mitigation to support continued growth in these communities. I will note that all of these PILOT payments are fully verifiable. The IDA undergoes an extensive independent audit each year and they are posted on our website for public review. In quick summary, the projects presented here represent PILOT payments of $89,677,343 since 2004 on a land base that would have generated $1,232,817 if it remained undeveloped. NOTICE: With the Governors executive order mandating a reduction in non-essential workforce, the Greene IDA office will be closed as of tomorrow morning and reopen on April 2nd. Starting Monday, March 16th: The IDA will suspend in-person meetings and instead, conduct meetings via teleconference, video conference or telephone. ...
