Heads Up! Westchester Power Selects/Continues with Constellation New Energy (100% Renewable Energy) as the Village and Town of Ossining's Community Choice Aggregation Provider. Village and Town of Ossining residents and businesses will receive a renewal letter that comes from Constellation New Energy, and also identifies Sustainable Westchester (program provider), and the appropriate Village or Town seal verifying our communities' contract with Constellation through June 2...022. You need not do anything at this time unless you choose to opt-out. THose who have previosuly opted-out will not receive a renewal notice or be part of the program. You can opt-out of this program at anytime and choose your own energy service provider (ESCO), but our municipalities have chosen to aggregate our communities' buying power by finding a provider that helps our community move off of our reliance on fossil fuel, among other benefits. Town Hall on the Environment Hosted by Westchester County Government happening now! Listen in to County Executive George Latimer and Peter McCartt, Director of Energy Conservation and Sustainability and Legislator Ruth Walter, Chair of the Environment & Health Committee.

All eyes on the Georgia U.S. Senate race. Why? Because we need strong environmental legislation on the federal level: the current majority in the U.S. Senate has allowed for the weakening of environmental protections by, among other things, creating rollbacks that have gutted programs and dismantled environmental policies. SO...some of us at Green Ossining did a thing tonight and joined the Environmental Voter Project's call banking efforts to get some 300K first-time env...ironmental voters in Georgia out to vote in their January 5th U.S. Senate run-off. Given that they can cast votes by mail-in/drop off ballots, early voting, and day-of voting, these first time voters need to be reminded that their vote is important and that they can vote any way that works for them -- but time is running out. We gave them some resources to help them get on their way. Note: the EVP is nonpartisan. We were not suggesting which candidates they vote for, but encouraged first-time voter turnout to those that prioritize environmental issues. It may seem like such an odd thing to do when we are so used to disposing of our leaves as if they were trash. Mulched leaves actually are beneficial to soil. And what’s beneficial to soil makes for healthy grass and trees and complete ecosystems it sustains. So before you bag it or blow it- think about the value they bring to our environment. ... Any Leaf blower use is detrimental not just to the soil by removing nourishment that decomposing leaves offer and blowing away top soil, but if you are using a gas powered leaf blower, you are actually contributing to asthma and increasing greenhouse gas emissions (which is dangerously warming our planet ).
