April is here and that means community gardening season in NYC has begun! We are excited and happy to be gardening again. We have recently updated our policies on: Public and Garden Group Access, COVID-19 Protocols, and Food Distribution for GreenThumb community gardens on @nycparks property. To find out all our Important Service Changes, please visit: bit.ly/GreenThumbUpdates / bit.ly/GreenThumbUpdatesSpanish. *Please note that policies are subject to change based on City..., state, and federal regulations related to the evolving COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, community gardens operating on NYC Parks property may remain open or closed to the general public at the discretion of each garden group. Please check for signage near the garden entrance to find out if the garden is closed, open to members only, or open to the public at this time. : Daffodils and forsythia in bloom at Amazing Garden by Elena Dubas, GreenThumb #greenthumbgrows #nycparks #greenthumbupdates

"Cousins to cauliflower and broccoli, collards are a hearty green known for their robust, slightly bitter taste and the rich, nutritious pot liquor they produce when cooked. These greens and their liquor have been lauded for generations, but few in the South know that there’s more than one kind of collard green. Even fewer know that there are dozens of different varieties, and that many are now on the verge of disappearing forever. That’s where the Heirloom Collard Project comes in. By distributing and growing rare and unique collards, this massive collaboration has created ties between chefs, gardeners, farmers, and seedsmen who hope to preserve the plant’s genetic diversity." #LunchTimeRead

Today's #lunchtimeread with video featuring the GreenThumb Operations Team helping move the murals. "Artists created the raw, real images on plywood that was used during the demonstrations to board up countless businesses across the city. [Artist, Daniel] Bonilla grew up in Inwood and created several pieces that were relocated as part of the project. GreenThumb and NYC Parks arranged for them to be transported to a storage facility in Midtown Manhattan." #greenthumbgrows #nycparks
