General Chuck Yeager, worlds first man to break the sound barrier past away on December 7. Rest in Peace, Sir! Hand Salute! He first stepped into a cockpit duri...ng World War II after joining the Army Air Forces directly out of high school. By the end of the war, he was a fighter ace credited with shooting down at least 12 German planes, including five in one day. Making the military his career, he emerged in the late 1940s as one of the newly created Air Force’s most revered test pilots. #UWVC #airforce

Today the George Smith Post #1607, along with the Greenville VFW Post #3175, Pine Island PLAV Post #16 and Sussex, NJ American Legion Post #213 came together to... honor all those who perished in the attack on Pearl Harbor. We must never allow them to be forgotten. We gathered on the bank of the Wallkill River and in remembrance of the lives lost that day, paid homage to them.
