Lambing has begun...
Friday, April 23rd...Sierra arrives at Greenwood Hill Farm. I'm so excited to have her here. A little more than two weeks ago, scrolling through Facebook, I see a post "rescued horses for adoption". My first thought was "I need a horse." And so the journey began... The past few years have been hard. I have experienced much loss and deep grief. I know that horses make good therapists. "Yes, a horse, a rescued horse no less, would be good. Maybe we could help each other,..." I thought. Originally, I had my eye on a pony. After sending my information to the owner, she assured me she had the perfect horse for me, and it was not the pony. We went and visited with Sierra and her owner. She was gentle and yet spirited. Apprehensive, but willing. She's a mustang from Wyoming. My home state. I'll share more of our journey. She's already taught me a lot.
It's springtime here in the Northeast, and all the trees have begun to bud out and the green grass has started to grow. This year the Great Northern Canadian Cottonwoods...lol, let their seedpods open up and fly early. It almost looks like a snowstorm, but that couldn't be, after all, it's April 22nd. It's too late for a snowstorm! Isn't it?
New addition coming to the farm...stay tuned :)
Perfect remedy for an abundance of eggs.
A beautiful end to a beautiful week.
Just in case we get a lot of bum lambs...
Tucked in among an old lilac bush near the farm house sits this delightful "fairy house." Evidence of children's imagination at work, and a sweet reminder of the simple joys of outside play.

Supper time at Greenwood Hill Farm!
We are so blessed to have such amazing guests. This is a photo taken a couple of nights ago on their visit to see the sheep. So glad they shared it with us.
Thanks to our wonderful guests for this "glamour shot" of Doc, our awesome goat. Any guesses on what he's eating?
Waiting patiently to go out to new to new pasture
Out moving the sheep fence in the fields, and look what I came upon...a beautiful monarch caterpillar having breakfast.
Our Honey Bees have been hard at work this summer. We harvested about 2 1/2 gallons so far and there's going to be more to come. These bottles are all ready to sell at the roadside stand on 417 east of Andover. There's nothing quite like local honey to help with local allergies.
