...Has anyone else lost track of which day it is during this quarantine? We do, sometimes! . For today’s Tip Tuesday, we’re highlighting this resource shared by our friends at the Developmental & Behavioral Pediatrics division of the University of Rochester. . As caregivers, we naturally place our well-being and needs secondary to those we care for. In being able to care for others, we have to also be conscious about the ways that we care for our self. ... . We particularly love this sticker chart because it shows that we, grown-ups, need affirmation and visuals for motivation sometimes, too! What better way to model systems that we would like our children to use them to show the benefits they have for all of us! See more
Welcome back to our Tactile Thursday series! . Now that the weather is starting to warm up, there are so many more avenues to explore in the area of sensory integrationfor our kiddos! . Exposing children to different sound timbres and felt textures at an early age creates neural connections and the exchange of information about the world around them. ... . Continuing to vary the experiences children have with their senses through toddler and pre-school ages expands their minds to be open to new sounds and textures, without any (very natural!) fears of the unknown. . The warmer weather opens up so many fun opportunities to integrate nature into your kiddo’s sensory exploration: Dig up some soil with your hands when planting in the garden! Splash around with a water table, pool, or in a pond! Collect sticks on a walk! Compare colors and shapes of leaves! Explore sharp textures (with a grown-up!) . The possibilities really are endless once we step outside, so it seems a shame to ignore the wonder of the (free!) world around us! See more
Today’s Tip Tuesday is brought to you by some beautiful weather, and letting the great outdoors provide YOU with some much-needed self care! . Prioritizing our well-being is a daily struggle for so many people as caregivers (hint: it’s kind of implied in our title!) - life is just SO busy, and with many families being home bound right now, there’s even less time for YOU! . Carving out little moments to change up your scenery + take in some fresh air can do more for our bo...dies and minds than we can even imagine. Here’s a little rhyme we use to highlight the benefits of a little outdoors time: Sun’s out: Vitamin D’s in! Rainy day: Puddle play! Endless clouds: Endless planting! Snowy day: Play the Olaf way! . The minute we celebrate all the things that nature can do for us, we can truly find enjoyment in the little things - and highlight our happiness! See more

It’s Fun Fact Friday! . A super fun fact about early childhood development: active toddlers are known to have active minds! Research shows us that brain activity in toddlers is off the charts while they are moving around. While your child is running around exploring their world today, know that their brains are moving almost as fast as their little bodies are! . Have a wonderful Friday, groovers! Keep those little brains moving and soaking in as much as they can today!... . #groove2grow #humandevelopment #earlychimdhoodmusic #activebrains See more
