We are so excited to announce our Spring Workshops! In our first workshop of the season, Making a Difference with Art, students will work with artists, Lexy Ho-Tai and Cody Umans to learn about how art can be used to make a difference in their communities. Lexy & Cody are currently working on community fridge initiatives where community members work together to build public refrigerated sites, which enable food to be shared with those who need it. In this workshop, students... will help Lexy and Cody as they plan the design for the newest community fridge! Our workshops for the Spring are being offered on a sliding pay scale. The suggested rate per student is $10 for one workshop. However, families should feel free to pay what they are able to based on their personal circumstances. CoderZ League is a virtual robotics competition where students solve different missions and challenges by programming a cyber robot using blockly code. Students used their existing knowledge while also gaining new knowledge of engineering, math, problem solving, coding, collaboration, and many other important twenty-first century skills. The Spring 2021 CoderZ League Tournament ran from March 1 to 31, 2021 and the winners were announced on April 4, 2021. NYS teams were from s...chools in Brooklyn, Staten Island, Manhattan, Queens, Huntington, Troy, Oneida, etc. Our fantastic teams from GUG II Middle School all competed, and placed high in the competition! 1st Place: Galaxy Coders 3rd Place: Sky Coderz 5th Place: The Fox Bandits 7th Place: GUG II Team 3 14th Place: GUG II Team 1 Thank you so much to our faculty advisors, Mr. Verma and Ms. Tirlokhi! We have incredible news! Our amazing after school club from GUG II Jamaica Middle School called CoderZ placed first in their virtual coding competition! It's National Bird Day! There's no better way to celebrate than by helping make NYC a safer place for our feathered friends. Even during winter, you can do your part by appreciating them from a distance, properly disposing of trash, & making windows bird-safe to reduce collisions!
