The first batch of new helmets have arrived from our friends at #MES. After research and evaluation we settled on the Morning Pride EV1 style helmet.
On Monday March 22nd, the members of the Guilderland Fire Department were joined by our friends from the Fort Hunter Fire Department for a Wild land fire class. The session included both lecture and then hands-on equipment review. A special thanks to Fort Hunter fire department for bringing their brush truck and UTV for our class.
The members of the Guilderland Fire Department wish to express our sincere condolences to the family of Firefighter Jared Lloyd and the members of the Spring Valley Fire Department and Rockland County fire service.
Do you have an old car which you would like to donate and get rid of? We are in search of vehicles which we can use for extrication and fire training. If the answer is yes, please follow the three steps outlined below: Step 1 Clean all personal items out of your car.... Step 2 Locate your car title. You will need to sign that over to either the Fire Department or Tow agency. The title must be in your name. If other people jointly own the car with you, they will need to sign the title as well. Step 3 Notify the Guilderland Fire Department that you have a vehicle you would like to donate for training by calling (518) 456-5000 ext 4. If no one is immediately available leave a message and someone will call you back and confirm if we are accepting vehicles. If we are, we can arrange a tow agency to pick up the car. Step 4 If you would like a tax deductible receipt for your donation, we can have one provided to you.
The members of the Guilderland Fire Department would like to wish everyone a happy and safe Holiday Season and a Very Merry Christmas.
As the winter storm approaches please use extra caution on the roads. Also if you have a fire hydrant on your property taking the few extra minutes to clear the snow from around it will save valuable time in the event of a fire.
The members of the Guilderland Fire Department would like to thank everyone for making this year’s Santa’s Ride a huge success. It has been our privilege over the years to escort Santa around the fire district so that he can see all of the children and wish everyone a happy holiday season. This year as you know we faced a difficult challenge with COVID-19 which required us to completely re-think how we could still support Santa while still ensuring the safety of both the comm...unity and our members. As part of that process we needed to enforce social distancing which required changing the way Santa interacted with the children, took photos and handed out gifts. Our members will be in touch with Santa after Christmas as we are already working on plans for next years visit. In the mean time, please visit http://www.gfdsantasride.com/ to view some of the photos from Santa's Ride.
Nathaniel Place Santa is on his way.
