The 32nd Annual Gazebo concert series is on! After an abbreviated year we are looking forward to full season this year. To note: hoping Covid has been handled by then, but we will follow any Covid guidelines and Westhampton restrictions that are in effect.

Doors Opening May 10, 2021! It has been just a few days over a year since our library had to close due to Covid-19. We now feel confident to open our doors begi...nning May 10, 2021, to patrons without an appointment. The Governor has issued updates to start relaxing restrictions beginning April 1, 2021. We have been sharing these updates daily. Of course, this opening date is subject to change if things worsen. Hopefully, things remain in a positive direction and we continue our course. To ensure the health and safety of our staff and patrons, the library has rolled out a phased approach to reopening, like many other businesses. Inside the library programs will be the last phase to be reopened and will not be operating when we open May 10, 2021. We also anticipate keeping some services that we offered during our closure, (including curbside appointments, virtual programs, passport, and notary appointments) even when our doors are fully open due to their popularity and success. We will be requiring social distancing and proper masks. We will also have a self-temperature check with a no-touch thermometer and a contact tracing log that is self-reported in a station in the lobby for your convenience and the safety of the staff and patrons. I thank you in advance for being cooperative while we keep everyone safe. We will keep doing all the things we’ve been doing: providing online materials, answering emails, providing an electronic newsletter, keeping you up to date with the latest information, creating and updating library accounts, ordering new materials, and offering virtual programs until our anticipated reopening date of May 10, 2021. In the meantime, I hope you have been connecting with the library’s online services. One fascinating fact of this difficult time is how the library has been able to continue helping many patrons with our wide range of online resources. When the library building closed, the Westhampton Free Library team quickly acted to expand digital access. You have seen this content created through the daily newsletter. Here are some impressive statistics during the pandemic: There have been 5,193 Curbside Pickups. There have been 1,203 Digital Programs. There have been 6,037 Browsing Appointments. I wish to thank the library staff, the Board of Trustees, and our communities for the incredible support that you have given me and the staff during this difficult time. We also wish to thank our essential workers for being on the front lines. We appreciate all of you. We are looking forward to May 10, 2021, where you can walk through our doors again. We are excited to start the last phased processes of our reopening. I wish good health to you and your families. Stay safe. Danielle Waskiewicz Library Director

From Mayor Bill de Blasio New York City has reached the 3% testing positivity 7-day average threshold. Unfortunately, this means public school buildings will be closed as of tomorrow, Thursday Nov. 19, out of an abundance of caution. We must fight back the second wave of COVID-19.
