Memorial service for Ada Louise Wilkes Hafner is Saturday, 2:30 p.m. at Westvale SDA Church in Syracuse. (Obit on Syracuse.com) All are welcome as we gather to celebrate Mom's life, past and future! She entered her sleep in the dirt June 25, 2017, joining Dad, and those who preceded her. Her next thought will be awakening to the Trumpet call on the relatively near Second Coming of Christ. ( 2 Thessalonians 4:16-18). Truly the best is yet to come! (Pics, 1.Granddaughter Jenny, Louise, Paul Jr., 2. Louise, Paul Sr., Paul Jr. on top of Whiteface ca.2010)
This happy Nichol Taylor's tyke at Emmi Farms U-pick is anticipating some of: Grandma Hafner’s Fresh Blueberry Pie: 3 cups fresh blueberries (or frozen) 1 T Lemon juice 2/3 cup water ... - cup sugar 3 T of cornstarch -Combine cornstarch and water and then sugar. Cook and stir until thick. -Add 1 cup of fresh blueberries. -Next, stir (fold) in 1 T of lemon Juice -add the remaining 2 cups of uncooked blueberries stir to distribute. -Pour this pie filling mixture into the baked piecrust and immediately put in fridge to chill for at least 2 hours. -Makes one 9 inch pie. Upon removal from fridge top with low fat cool whip or whip cream and serve. You may also use frozen blueberries for this recipe. It is important to pour the frozen blueberries right into the hot blueberry sauce. Do not thaw the berries or they will get wilted. The frozen berry pie is almost like the fresh blueberry pie. Grandma Louise, used this basic recipe tweaked for other fruits but blueberry was always the family favorite. Please copy text and share with this delightful pic taken at Emmi's blueberry fields. This recipe is an fitting memorial of Mom, (Ada) Louise Hafner (10-16-1927 to 6-25-2017). She always sought quality and valued thrift as Dad and her raised the 5 of us while actively fulfilling her many family and farm roles. We will miss Mom, who left us to sleep in the dust with her forefathers until the Trumpet voice of Christ awakens her to Eternal Life! 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17. What a glorious reunion that day will be! I've imagined that blueberries there will be at least grapfruit size! Who knows anything there will be possible beyound our wildest imagination. Hope to see all of you, our wonderful customer friends, on that day as well!
Like and share this video, It is a good start on how to be an efficient Blueberry picker. When the bucket gets a little heavy on your waist, pour the berries into a salad bowl, dishpan, or other container you brought from home. Those are no cost containers, using them helps keep the strain on your waist/back down, and the berries more affordable! Also, a short stool or a 5 gal bucket, upside down as a seat will lessen back strain when picking the lower berries.
