out of dark & into the light When I was 26 my mom was diagnosed with NH lymphoma. I watched her whither away to nothing and die. Immediately after I lost my dad and grandma. I spiraled, soon I became addicted to drugs and I went to jail. I’ve worked hard to put my life back together and make something of myself. Fast forward to today. I’m 38 a salon owner, boss, a friend, a mentor. Today a client who was unhappy with a service, provided at my salon dug DEEP into my past, ...from not only years, but what feels like a lifetime ago. She was trying to extort me for money. I was planning to talk about my past in order to help people anyway. So I figured today was a perfect opportunity, to stand up for myself and be an example of hope and inspiration to anyone struggling with addiction or fearful of their past! I went through a dark time, I did my time, I came out and I continue to grow and learn. I am rising and I will stop at nothing to have those around me rise with me. I am Jessica Taylor and I have nothing to hide. I love who I am, who I have become, that doesn’t mean my past self was right, it means I am a stronger person for it!
