A question I get a lot is what’s the difference between ‘highlights’ and a ‘balayage’? The difference is traditional highlights are usually sliced or weaved and go right up to the root of the hair. It’s usually not blended and almost has a more stripey look to it. People with traditional highlights typically have to come in every 4-6 weeks to get them touched up because they grow out very harsh and with a clear line of demarcation. Balayage on the other hand is meant to give you that lived-in look. It’s meant to look soft and blended so you can go longer in between appointments before needing to come back in. Typically 8-10 weeks. Balayage is the perfect technique to use on someone who wants a low maintenance look and doesn’t want to see a clear line of grow out and keep it soft and blended.
