California is so lucky to have this girl. Thank you for taking the time to come see me while you were home, I needed a little @drianna_card in my life. The canvas: She had a couple inches of natural level 5 roots, a few inches of a golden level 8 and a yellow level 9/10 through her ends. The goal: As blonde and bright as possible, with a slight root shadow to create less maintenance for her back on the west coast. ... The process: I used a mix of foils and balayage for maximum impact and brightness, then to create longevity added a shallow root smudge in a teardrop shape toward the crown beginning behind the money piece. The formulas: Foils- @keunenamerica cream bleach and 20 volume developer 1:1.5 Balayage- #keune Freedom blonde and 40 volume developer 1:1.5 Root smudge- Equal parts 6.1/7.2 and semi developer 1:2 Gloss: 10g 9.27 20g 10.2 60g semi activator The design: Swipe #balayageblonde #keunenamerica #keunie #keunehaircosmetics @ Kris&Kierst See more

@meli_melz_88 has been getting balayage and foils on her natural base for quite some time. She decided she was ready for a change and wanted to lighten her natural color. Being that her natural hair color is dark brown, achieving light blonde with hair color alone is not possible. If she wanted her base to be as light as her highlights, we would have needed to lighten the whole head, and maintain with a bleach retouch every 4 weeks. We discussed her options and landed ...on a neutral dark blonde for her base, with foil highlights. Her maintenance will be a root retouch and foil every 6-8 weeks. The goal you have in mind may not be *safely* achievable for your hair. If your dream color is possible, it may cost more than you are willing to spend or require more maintenance than you have time for in your busy schedule. Trust your stylist to customize your goal for your lifestyle, budget, and unique hair needs. Thank you @meli_melz_88 for always trusting me to guide you on your hair adventures! @ Kris&Kierst See more

#rochesterny winter creates some beautiful lighting for pictures. Midi foil and gloss. Isn't she lovely?!

We shall call it the eclipse. We focused on lightening and brightening the underneath of @maggggie4 hair with heavy, strategically placed foils using @keunenamerica Cream Bleach. Of course we had to have that nice bright money piece framing her face but that is the only thing we touched on the top of her head. Her highlights had grown in perfectly for that lived in blonde look. Now when she does a hair flip or tucks her hair behind her ear.. BAM blonde magic. You... wouldn't believe how blonde she looks and feels having all that framing her face under the surface in contrast with the depth at the root. Man I love color, it's the coolest. See more

Ribbons of soft rosy copper and mahogany. Warmer colors are trending and I LOVE it!

@kittygirlkel is on the road to blonde. Lucky for me she has 100% natural hair to work with. If her brunette were previously colored this first lightening session would have landed her at a warm dark caramel. Keep your expectations realistic by chatting with your stylist about each session in your blonding journey. TRUST your stylist and the process. Know that to get to blonde from dark brown your hair has to break through numerous levels of pigment over multiple sessio...ns: Red,orange, gold, yellow. You will likely reach a point where you have a mix of these colors. That's because it may take lightening the same section of hair multiple times to break through the orange and not every single hair is getting lightened every session. Also, know that platinum is not safely achievable for most people. If you're starting from dark brown, chances are platinum is not realistic for you. Do not bring a picture of Khaleesi and her beautiful wig as an inspiration photo. I am so excited to continue working on Kelly's hair and to see where our next session takes us! See more

I posted this on our salon account a few weeks ago. I think it's worth the repost. Lighting is everything my friends! Understanding it will help you set realistic expectations. These photos were taken moments apart, on the same head, a couple feet to the right and left, in 100% NATURAL lighting. Keep this photo in mind when searching for your hair inspiration online. Your hair will never look identical to any photo of another head of hair, photographed in different... lighting, colored by a different stylist with different products and techniques. Inspiration photos are meant to give us an idea of what you like and don't like, so that we can customize a color that is perfect for YOU not the woman or man in the photo. Make sense? Also remember, your hair will look different in the bathroom, in your car, at the dentist, at work etc. If you love your hair color and you find yourself in some not so flattering lighting, move three feet to the left and look again.
