The Female Hairline Blog by Dr. Benjamin Paul The female hairline plays an important role in facial framing. There are a few reasons why your hairline may not be the way you want it. In some cases, you may be born with a hairline that is higher than where you want it. This situation is common, and the hairline may be lowered through transplant. Another reason for loss of the hairline is from a tight hair style leading to "traction alopecia". Traction Alopecia Video Presentation By Dr Benjamin Paul In this case, the patient presented with long standing hair loss near his hairline. This occurred after a childhood of traction alopecia from wearing a tight bun. Traction alopecia is a scarring alopecia, which means that medicine and time will not revive the hair follicles. The follicles are scarred and will not grow. Traction alopecia occurs when continued painful tension is placed on the hair follicles. Hair Care Do's and Don'ts During Social Distancing NYC is amidst a significant COVID-19 viral outbreak. We are being asked as a society to care for each other through social distancing. This will reduce the number of cases at any given time to avoid further overwhelming our health care system. Though this makes sense for our society, this decision can challenge our individual goals. https://www.haircaremd.com/blog-social-distancing.html #newyorkhairrestoration #covid19 #socialdistancing #coronavirus #virtualappointments #telemedicineNYC #hairrestorationtelemedicine #drbenjaminpaul #hairdoctorNYC

How long after transplant does it take to see a result? By Dr. Benjamin Paul The result from a hair transplant continues to improve for one and a half years after transplant, but why? The reason is that when a transplant is performed, hair is transferred from the back of the head (donor site) to a site of thinning (recipient site, often the front of the head). The hair will grow for some time and then will shed. What is the best method of hair transplant? Hair transplant has evolved and improved tremendously in the past two decades. Gone are the days of plugs and large groups of hairs and hair follicles. Modern hair transplants focus on moving single hair units, known as follicles. The follicles can have one, two, three, and sometimes four hairs. The single hairs are used to line the hairline and the larger units are used to enrich density in the recipient area. One Patient at a Time Blog post by #DrBenjaminPaul The following patient had a hair transplant to improve the density of her hairline. Hair units were placed to fill in the angle between the frontal and temporal hair and within the egg-shaped area in the center of the front hair called the "frontal core". The first photo shows a slight redness to the scalp and was taken just at the completion of a hair transplant. http://www.haircaremd.com/blog-hairline.html #femalehairline #femalehairtransplantNYC #hairtransplantsurgeonsNYC #NYChairrestoration #HairCareMD #Newyorkhairrestoration #NYChairlossdoctors #hairline #hairloss #frontalcore #hairlosssurgeonsNYC

What is a hair follicle, and how is it used in transplant? By Dr. Benjamin Paul A transplant works because hair is made from a follicle, which is the like the seed in a garden, that may extracted and replanted in the same patent. Sorry, we can’t take someone else’s hair or follicles. The follicle contains the stem cells that grow hair. In both men and women, there is commonly an excess of hair follicles in the lower back of the head, which we term the donor site. We can harvest (extract) these donor follicles and place them in a new location to enrich an area that is thinning without causing the donor site to look thin. http://www.haircaremd.com/blog-hair-follicle.html #hairfollicle #NYChairtransplant #hairrestorationNYC #newyorkhairsurgeon #follicletranplantnyc #drbenjaminpaul #manhattanhairtransplant #hairlossdoctorsNYC
