NYS burn ban starts on March 16th. If you are doing any burning before/after the burn ban please make sure to follow your State/local laws. Taking the following... steps can help prevent the fire from unintentionally spreading: 1) Have a water source to extinglish the fire (garden hose) 2) Do not leave fire unattended 3) Do not burn on windy days 4) Use a fire bowl or pit to keep fire contained in 5) When you are done burning make sure to have the fire fully extinguished before leaving it 6) Be aware of the fire hazard level put out by DEC weekly (link posted below) https://www.dec.ny.gov/lands/68329.html

New Floor for HMW Station 1 Station 1, on Lake Road in Hamlin is the historic home of the Hamlin Fire Department. The floor in the truck bay was original to the building which was built in 1979 and was showing its age. After many years of research Commissioner Tom Sercu took the lead and guided the replacement project to a successful conclusion. The original cement floor was replaced with a combination epoxy resin mixture. The process took several weeks to complete because th...e new floor required several weeks to cure before allowing the trucks back on them. During this long process one engine was kept in Station 1, while the other trucks normally there were parked at Stations 2 and 3. Over the next few weeks all the equipment and trucks will be returned to Station 1.
