The Village of Hancock Police Department is seeking the public's assistance! On Thursday, March 11th, 2021, between the hours of 2:30 pm and 8:30 pm, a second floor apartment on East Front Street in the area of the municipal parking lot was burglarized. The point of entry was a second story balcony and then through a window of the apartment. A large quantity of cash, jewelry, social security cards, passports and checks were taken. If anyone has any information, they are encouraged to call the Hancock Police Department at (607)637-3432. All information can be kept as confidential.

DELAWARE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE 280 Phoebe Lane Suite #1 Delhi, New York 13753 PRESS RELEASE:... On Tuesday afternoon, February 20, Delaware County Sheriff Deputies arrested two Hancock men following a request from the Broome County Sheriff’s Office for assistance in executing Bench Warrants issued by the Binghamton City Court. Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies, with assistance from the Village of Hancock Police Department, subsequently located and arrested 23 year old Axel O. Zazeckie and 26 year old Robert A. Croci on Bench Warrants that were issued following their failure to appear in the Binghamton City Court as previously directed. Zazecki and Croci were turned over to Broome County Sheriff’s Deputies to be arraigned in the Binghamton City Court where Zazecki is facing charges of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree and False Personation and Croci is charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree. A third wanted subject, 27 year old Daniel J. Dermody, also of Hancock, was observed driving in the Village of Hancock and was subsequently stopped by members of the Hancock Police Department and charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the Second Degree, an unclassified misdemeanor. Dermody was arraigned in the Village of Hancock Court and was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility in lieu of $1,000.00 cash bail pending a future court appearance. A copy of the Binghamton City Court Bench Warrant issued for the arrest of Dermody for failure to appear was filed with the Delaware County Correctional Facility as a detainer. Upon his release from the Correctional Facility Dermody will be turned over to the Broome County Sheriff’s Office to answer charges of Driving While Intoxicated, Driving with a BAC over 0.08 percent and moving from lane unsafely in the Binghamton City Court.

Press Information February 19, 2018 On Friday, February 16th, 2018 at approximately 2:40pm, the Village of Hancock Police Department arrested LAURIE L. GOODROW, age 56, of Hancock, New York for 2 counts of Harassment in the 2nd Degree. The charges stem from a complaint of continuing harassment at the McDonald’s Restaurant on West Main Street in the village. GOODROW was issued a Criminal Summons to return in the Village of Hancock Court on March 21st at 5:00pm. On Wednesday,... February 14th, 2018 at approximately 5:00pm, the Village of Hancock Police Department arrested SHELBY D. BARSE, age 23, of Sidney, New York on a warrant for Petit Larceny following an investigation into the larceny of money from his girlfriend’s Sidney Federal Credit Union account in October of 2017. BARSE was arraigned in the Village of Hancock Court and was released after posting $1000.00 bail. BARSE will reappear at a later date for further court actions. The Village of Sidney Police Department assisted in the arrest. On Thursday, February 8th, 2018 at approximately 12:45pm, the Village of Hancock Police Department investigated a property damage motor vehicle accident that occurred at the Valero Gas Station on East Front Street in the village. A delivery truck, being operated by DONALD R. McFAUL, age 41, of Amsterdam, New York was attempting to pull into the parking lot when he drove onto a curb that was covered with snow. The automatic leveling air suspension of the vehicle raised the box of the truck which struck the fuel pump overhang roof causing damage to both the truck and the overhang. The vehicle was towed from the scene and no tickets were issued. On Wednesday, February 7th, 2018 at approximately 8:30am, the Village of Hancock Police Department investigated a one car property damage accident on the exit 87 westbound ramp of State Route 17 in the village. Driver RAJ B. PATEL, age 49, of Portland, Indiana was travelling west on the ramp, lost control of the vehicle on the slippery pavement and struck the guiderail. The vehicle was removed from the scene and PATEL was not injured in the crash. On Sunday, February 4th, 2018 at approximately 2:40pm, the Village of Hancock Police Department investigated a one car property damage accident on State Route 17 at the Exit 87 ramp. JOSEPH L. DAVID, age 30, of Livingston Manor, New York was proceeding west bound on State Route 17 and attempting to exit the highway when he lost control on the slippery roadway and entered a ditch. Neither DAVID nor his passengers were injured in the crash.

The Village of Hancock Police Department Chief Brian diLorenzo would like to remind village residents of the recent national news stories regarding Tennessee fugitives Jarret Cole Heitmann, age 24 (left) and Makayla Danielle Stilwell, age22 (right). The New York State Police are investigating possible sightings in Matamoras, Pennsylvania, as well as Orange and Sullivan Counties. Heitmann is reportedly known to travel on occasion by freight train and by hitchhiking. Residents are reminded to report any suspicious persons on or around the train tracks, the river banks or who may look to be attempting to hitchhike through the area.

Press Information April 21, 2017 On Saturday, April 1st, 2017 at approximately 12:45am, the Village of Hancock Police Department arrested GERARD P. BARONE JR, age 25 of Throop, Pennsylvania for Driving While Intoxicated following a traffic stop on East Front Street in the Village. BARONE was additionally charged with Driving with Greater Than .08 Blood Alcohol Content and Speeding. BARONE was arraigned in the Village of Hancock Court and released on his own recognizance to... appear at a later date. On Sunday, April 9th, 2017 at approximately 10:05pm, the Village of Hancock Police Department arrested SEAN W. PETERSON, age 49 of Suffern, New York for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd Degree following a traffic stop on West Main Street in the village. PETERSON was also charged with Operating an Uninspected Motor Vehicle and Inadequate Tail Lamps. PETERSON was released with tickets to reappear in the Village of Hancock Court at a later date. On Wednesday, April 12th, 2017 at approximately 11:35pm, the Village of Hancock Police Department arrested JASON M. DAVIS, age 37 of Worcester, Massechusettes for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 3rd degree following a traffic stop on State Route 17 in the village. DAVIS was issued tickets to reappear in the Village of Hancock Court to answer the charges. On Sunday, April 16th, 2017 at approximately 12:50am, the Village of Hancock Police Department arrested DAVID K. ORANE, age 38 of Newburgh, New York for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 3rd degree following a traffic stop on State Route 17. ORANE was also charged with Operating with Inadequate Plate Lamp and was released to reappear in the Village of Hancock Court at a later date. On Monday, April 17th, 2017 at approximately 4:00pm, the Village of Hancock Police Department arrested NOELLE A. BRIENZA, age 18 of Armonk, New York for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 3rd degree following a traffic stop on State Route 17 in the village. BRIENZA was also charged with Speeding and was released to reappear in the Village of Hancock Court at a later date.
