Harrisville Vol. Fire Department

At 00:30 Harrisville Fire and Rescue along with Natural Bridge Rescue were activated by Lewis County Dispatchers for a reported one car MVA roll over with injuries. Engine-2 with Chief-2 arrived on scene and stated that there was three people in the vehicle at the time of the crash and all were out of the vehicle with one injury. Natural Bridge Ambulance transported one. New York State police, Carthage Rescue and Furneys towing were also on scene. Harrisville was back in service at 02:00.

Debated on if we should or not post this but with the homeowner's permission and the fact that it could save a firefighters life we thought we would share. At Sunday's fire(shed fire) we had crews attempting to open a garage door(locked from the outside) from inside to help vent the structure. As crews made their way in one firefighter(was in FULL turnout gear and SCBA) entered the structure took one step to the left and stepped on what he thought was flooring but turned o...ut to be a cover(Approx 4ftx4ft) for a approximate 10 foot deep water well. The firefighter fell through the cover and dropped about five feet before catching himself, and climbing out. The firefighter was NOT INJURED.. Smoke and fire are not the only dangers Interior firefighters deal with and no matter how big or small the structure, never let your guard down... ALWAYS look for the hidden dangers. Be safe and always be alert especially in the worst conditions.

At 6:24 Harrisville Fire and Rescue was activated by Lewis County Dispatchers for a reported shed/garage on fire filled with ammunition next to exposures. Natural Bridge Fire was activated by Harrisville's chief-2. Chief-1(Don Thomas) reported on scene with a working shed fire/flames showing with Engine-2(Mike M, Jason F) arriving on scene stretching a 1 1/2 line and knocking a majority of the fire down. Crews had the fire undercontrol 15 mins after arriving on scene. No other structures were damaged. Harrisville responded with Engine-2, Tanker-2, FC4 and 13 members.
