Why does Verizon pretend to offer assistance to small businesses during the Covid-19 crisis when the actually do the exact opposite and create more problems and obstacles for struggling business owners? In early July I was able to negotiate with my landlord to vacate my business property due to the pandemic, they were very helpful and understanding and waved any penalty fees that would normally have been charged. I called Verizon who had been my internet provider since Januar...y of 2014 to terminate my service and had a lengthy discussion about the fact that my new office space was shared office space and the property did not have Verizon as an option for internet, I simply had to use the service they provided. I asked the Verizon representative if there would any termination charges, or if any of my equipment needed to be returned, the answer was NO, I had a final bill for my last month of service and that was itUntil yesterday when I received a bill for $754.99. This morning I spent nearly an hour on the phone with Dan Olsen a supervisor (?) at Verizon who informed me that this was my early termination fee for canceling my contract, Dan had absolutely no compassion or empathy for my situation or that the whole world is having difficulty dealing with the loss of business, furloughing employees, defaulting on debts all due to the pandemic. He just insultingly kept repeating himself we have obligation to collect these fees When I asked to be transferred to a higher authority he said he was it! When I asked to be transferred to their legal department, he said he couldn’t, when I asked for the contact information for the legal department, he said he didn’t have it. WOW. I encourage all of my friends to email Dan at [email protected] to ask him how he can be so callous and unhelpful at a time when that is all anyone should be doing. I do not have an extra $754.99 to pay to Verizon and even if I did would not pay simply on principal. Please get outraged and comment, let Verizon know they are horrible. See more
