I want to take a minute to sing the praises of this beautiful community we live in. The residents of Elmira ALWAYS prove that if there is a call, they will answer. Whether it’s a benefit for a family saddled with thousands of dollars in unexpected medical expenses for their child, or for children who lost their parent or parents, a fundraiser to support a shelter, donations to a charity that provides toys for every family in need on Christmas morning, local restaurants who pr...ovide meals to people out of work or just in need, THIS CITY AND ITS PEOPLE PROVIDE. A simple post about someone donating trees in honor of Jeremy Moore inspired others to do the same. Dozens of people dropped off stands, decorations and sponsored more trees. We gave away 14 trees to families who needed and appreciated them. One family even gathered toys, a meal and another tree with decorations to pay their blessing forward. Keep doing beautiful things Elmira. This holiday season, remember the local restaurants that donated to those same fundraisers I mentioned before. Support them by purchasing gift cards or getting take out. Tip a little bigger. Buy an extra toy and donate it to a local charity. Sponsor a family through church or school. Deliver for arctic league. Drop off a meal to someone who could use it. Call or visit that friend struggling with addiction or depression. Send gifts or cards to the elderly who can’t receive visitors. Do something to bring someone joy. Continue to be good to each other. Keep showing the world why we love this community. Just letting our regular customers know that we will soon be out of Christmas Trees. We had a few less to offer this year due to a tree shortage and non availability from our regular supplier but mostly, everyone has been early! So if it’s your tradition to wait until the last minute to get your tree, we encourage you to come early, actually, in the next few days. We will post when we are sold out. We will continue to offer wreaths until we are out of those too. Sharing this pic from last night when a family chose a blue spruce and we barely got it through the baler. Teamwork!
