Recently we worked with Thomas Lavin Construction on a beautiful home he is completing in Montauk. His client loved the look of glass panels with wood rails, and the contractor coordinated the handrail install with us and the glass company. HB Millwork installed 1" x 2" plain-sawn white oak rails on the glass company's existing glass and brackets for a flawless look.

Yesterday's amazing weather definitely had us dreaming about beach days with ocean waves ! We thought it only fitting to share a recent stair and handrail project we completed in the beach town of Montauk. We love the square edge plain-sawn white oak treads paired with the aptly named Montauk rail, Linear cable system and quirked plain-sawn white oak 3 1/2" posts. This look definitely gives us all the beach vibes!

Another transitional handrail install by our amazing craftsmen! Our client loved the clean lines of our modern 4092 box newel, the transitional curves of our Orient rail and the traditional look of the wrought iron balusters with knuckles and spoons. What do you think of the mixing of styles?

Happy Saturday everyone! As we all try to stay warm and dry, we wanted to share everyone's favorite type of post; our before and afters! We recently completed an installation for a wonderful family in Holbrook. Our craftsmen not only installed a gorgeous handrail system, but also updated their stairs with our red oak retro-treads and poplar riser skins! Retro-treads allow our clients to update their stairs without having to do the construction of removing the old set possibly damaging walls. We simply cover the treads and risers that are existing with solid hardwood material! Is it just us, or does the room look completely different?

Things are taking shape as we veneer the stringer with black walnut. Black walnut is a rich looking wood that is absolutely gorgeous when finished.
